Don’t forget the RX7 40th this coming year 1979-2019. MAZDA has 2 great cars to celebrate.

David, the SA Rx-7 (1st gens) are going up in value. The latest Hagerty magazine featured them in its yearly review of rising stars. Get a move on, you need a wankel.

What he said. Most folks don’t thrash their slush boxes, thats why its called an automatic. I would wager to bet if they had some logic in there to allow redline on downshifts it might have cured the issue or avoided it anyway.

Most of what you say is true but synthetics burn ok now. The redline issue is real. That why many RX8s with autos failed, carbon build up. The autos didn’t let the engine sing at high enough revs to burn things out.

Exhaust is a tricky subject on multiple rotor engines. Also an expansion chamber would be so loud your ears would bleed.

David, you need to get that 1st gen RX7 now before that comes out. That way you can compare rotaries when it does show up.

Did you actually measure the MPG on your drives? Spewing brochure numbers is one thing but delivering real world numbers based on the drive would be cool.

Maybe its really a resurrection of the 80s Bronco II. The Bronco and the Mustang both got butchered back then due to gas prices. Although the Bronco II is now kind of a neat retro small truck to have.

This Sucks! A lot! I was just on season 3. I’d never watched UK Top Gear, only the US version up till a few weeks ago. The life of a cord cutter!

Heres more mind blowing stuff to look at:

My 1980 RX-7 has a lot of dings, err, patina on it and I did them all!

I had one of these, it was called a pinto.

Bad asumption, you know what happens when you assume?

No the title is no clue. Whats the issue being demonstrated here?

Just did a drive in the Blue Ridge this weekend and didn’t used my wipers in the leftovers from that hurricane that came across mexico. I had rainx freshly put on the windshield before leaving. My wipers are 1980 kind of slow and not very effective anyway (1980 RX-7). Its not that bad a decision. A non-working heater

Another great misunderstdning of technology by a supposed automotive journalist. I was wondering about that as well. Thanks for the clarity.

Your car is not old, its just not maintained well, if at all, based on the things wrong with it. Do you ever look at your brakes? Or hear the AC compressor cycling to often. You sure you are writing for the right magazine?

Its more like 40lbs.

There should be more Subies on the list and higher up. I suspect the data this is drawn from.

Back in the day I bought my first car, used, after graduating from college. Yep, it was a 1980 MAZDA RX-7 which I paid $7200.00 @ 19% interest. Thats right, 19%. I think it was a 3 or 4 year loan and was about $500.00 per month. Still have it too!
