Thats is one sweet mustang David. Its the best looking vehicle in your fleet.

I used to autox a 73 pinto in the 80s at college. Embarrassed quite a few “rich” boys with alfas, bmws, and datsun z with that car. I had a sway bar up front, soft shocks in the rear, tuned header/exhaust and a racing bucket holding me in place. The engine was stock except I increased the overlap on the valve timing

1st gen RX7 do this as well if not driven carefully. Its a feature that can be useful in autox or twisty driving.

Whoa! I’m 2x your age David and that shit is still funny! Keep it up.

My 2007 F-150 is a manual 5 speed on the floor. Took me a year to find it. 2008 was the last year for a manual F-150 for the 4.2L V6. The last year for the V8 was 2003. Love my manual F-150. Replaced the failing stock exhaust with a cat back from Summit and now it sounds awesome when you push the fun pedal.

I didn’t realize you had become a staff writer, nice article.

I got one like this for $80.00 3 years ago. Great to have for getting that classic car started when the battery is low.

NIce, I’m thinking about getting one of these or a Cayman (hard top is better I think). Would like to see all the things fixed written up.

Off topic but related. MAZDA in their infinite wisdom only had a very finite number of unique keys for the 1st gen RX7s. So non-unique, that if there is a gathering of more than dozen or so RX7s, someones key will open and start at least one other car in the group.

But will your racing be in the next Changli ad?

Like I have 4 smart cars!

Dang it! Its pre 1979 as there are no RX7s there. Too bad. The Z looks nice though.

Yeah buts it’s no Chang-Li.

I did something like this on my 80 RX7. I made an aux cable that I could plug into the stereo and my 4th gen IPOD. The aux cable when plugged into the IPOD disables the radio and plays my tunes great.

I have been reinstalling the AC into my 80 RX7 for about 3 months now. It involved cleaning parts and stripping them with vinegar and repainting some brackets. Then it took a while to get new hoses made.

Get it running and safe. Stop the rust then just clear coat it and make the interior usable. Bam! Great Cars and Coffee fodder.

Still too big. Smaller and drop the 4x4 nonsense.

All I care about is that straight six SkyActive. They better bring that!

I bought an 86 Mitsu Mighty Max long bed regular cab new. It lived until ~1996. It was a solid little truck. Lost the timeing belt one time and never really ran the same after (interference design), so ended up donating it. It was a great size for a pickup.

Nice, now do the same sort of thing using an 80s or early 90s Ranger and look at the difference.
