Pointing out that something you said is your opinion does not excuse you if the thing you said is objectionable.

Sorry to say but it’s not my burner. I don’t need to pretend to be the people who wrote this thing to make my point. The filmmakers’ intent with Lisa was readily apparent to me. I’m happy to confront misogynistic assholes head-on with no fakery.
After the interview, the guy calls Lisa and leaves her a message,
What if during the conversation he was really sad about the prospect of having to sell his car he loves so much, and afterwards, because she knows how much the car means to him, she snuck the note into his bag to try and cheer him up? What do you have against Lisa anyway?
I take it by your quotes around “encourages” that you interpreted the note as some kind of veiled ultimatum from the spouse. Why do you assume this is the case? The note is stuck on a collection notice. What if the two of them collectively decided if he didn’t get the job, they’d sell his car to pay this bill?
Drug testing in manufacturing is mostly for safety/liability reasons. I’ve worked for a manufacturer and they have to keep records of any and all on the job safety incidents, even minor ones. Drug screening is super common in manufacturing and basically any other place with similar safety reporting requirements. If…
Yes I should’ve included security clearances etc, especially since my last job was for a federal IT contracting company. Slipped my mind until past the edit window.
My advice is if an employer wants to check credit, try to decline. The reports they can pull are not as detailed as what a lender would see thanks to FCRA. But unless they have a reasonable job-related need to check prospective employees’ credit, like the employee will be handling money or responsible for large…
I’m not saying anything other than pointing out the original post, which I did not make, was a comment about C&C in general and not Houston C&C.
“HOW DARE YOU BE A MINORITY AND POINT SOMETHING OUT ABOUT BEING A MINORITY!”
OP said “these events” referring to C&C overall, not Houston specifically.

That corporate policy would put them in the minority of employers. This is from a survey of employers on their background checks.
I’ve worked in recruiting for 14 years. I’ve never run a credit check on a prospective employee. The only industry where this is a remotely common practice is in finance.
Lexus GX is not a good comparison for resale values. All Toyota and Lexus body-on-frame SUVs hold their value like crazy, and the GX in particular because it’s a gussied up Land Cruiser Prado that’s otherwise not available in the US. By the time they reach their third or fourth owner, every GX gets converted to some…
Relax, wasn’t intending to argue with you.
I’m cry laughing at you thinking 500-600k houses are for truly rich people. I suppose that’s true in some parts of the country. I’m in the DC burbs and live in an 1800 sqft townhouse with a 1 car garage and postage stamp of a back yard. The assessed value? $500k. Needless to say nobody in my neighborhood is driving…
Random Tesla anecdote:
The Rover V8 was introduced by Buick in 1960, licensed by GM to Rover in 1967, and lasted until the 2004 Discovery.
