I don’t know about drug related charges, I was thinking they’ll go with a black on black crime narrative. I dont know the neighborhood but considering a police officer and an accountant lived there, and the brutality with which this latest murder occurred it’s a lot of red flags... I wish I could just get the hell out

What’s the over-under that it’s concluded to be “unrelated”? And then some drug-related charges are brought up against the deceased?

I think at this point there’s the “Okay” gesture we’ve known all our lives and the “Okay” gesture white supremacists have now adopted.  At first I wanted to agree with you, but when I looked at the picture it was pretty clear he was using the latter gesture.

Did you actually follow the link to see the pic?

There was so much wrapped up in Rep. Tlaib’s statement...where to start!

I think that’s a really great point. And one thing I wish I could have, and should have, made more clear is delineating a personal act of forgiveness vs the spectacle of it. I don’t know if Brandt intended for it to be a spectacle, but because it was filmed, because it was such a high profile case, and because the

They don’t believe in notes, either so cut it out.

Shocking! People who don’t believe in facts....(checks notes)...continue to not believe in facts.

“Brandt Jean’s hug was not a political statement but a personal one, and it’s a distinction we need to make if we want to live in a world where his older brother is still alive.”

Crystal Mason got five years for “illegal voting.” So... yeah, fuck this sentence.

There are some folks who are really invested in performative forgiveness. If you ever look into the case that inspired the Dirty John podcast, you’ll hear of a mother who testified FOR her daughter’s ex-husband. The ex shot her daughter in cold blood in the back of the head (explicitly she testified at the trial he

Yeah, I’ll allow Jean’s brother to mourn in whatever way helps him. If that includes forgiveness and it truly helps him, I’m not here to judge.

A white woman walked into a Black man’s apartment while he was sitting on the couch eating ice cream watching TV in his underwear and shot him, and I am relieved that she was actually found guilty.

I’m really reconsidering the unpleasant thoughts I sent the Judge yesterday when she included in the jury instructions basically the Stand Your Ground Law.

Yet, none of the other neighbors managed to shoot the rightful owners of their mixed-up apartments. Cops aren’t necessarily bad, but Amber Guyger isn't one of the "good apples."

But she is blonde, the best type of white so it just might work.

This wouldn’t have happened if so many white people weren’t scared of any black person they see and if cops weren’t conditioned to shoot first and ask questions later. It was technically an accident but it probably wouldn’t have happened if she wasn’t a white cop or he wasn’t a black man.

...reasonable mistake

She should be in jail for the rest of her life. But I fear that she’s gonna get off. And then rehired by another police department a couple of months from now.

Given the nature of Democrat elections, I don’t understand why every campaign doesn’t have a person (or a whole team of persons) whose sole job is to wake up each morning and say, “What do we need to do to build our support with Black voters today?”
