Being Black in a Newsroom

When most people think of careers in television, their first thought usually goes to someone in front of the camera.

One thing as a plus-sized person who got married in 2013: they need to be bluntly honest about sizing: bridal wear is still outside the bounds of vanity sizing and stretchy fabrics. I imagine it’s bad enough for a GAP size 6 realizing she’s a wedding dress 12, but to be a Lane Bryant 20 when you can barely find a

Good lord. Every candidate runs on a platform they know they have no chance of ever accomplishing because they have to let voters know where they stand on the issues.

Afew houses ago, I bought a house on an older plot of land in Lexington County, SC. The land deed said on it that only pure whites are allowed to hold title and live on the property except for slaves and servants. The “and servants” was obviously added by a 1920s typewriter.

If they can co-opt the “ok,” sign. We can use Betty.

I’ve been playing Conan Exiles of late and not once did I consider going over to my neighbor, knocking them out then enslaving them on the wheel of pain.

If it's a good game, it'll be even better when it costs 15 bucks.

Counterpoint; I’m playing AC:Unity (I’m 5-years behind in games because I’m a cheap-ass) and it’s got me building a guillotine

Sign; sometimes I just get tired of chalkasian people...

I think the question of *who* gets reparations is an interesting one, though from a policy perspective I’m not sure if we’re there yet. There’s first the question of what form reparations could or ought to take.

They were scamming, but this brings up an excellent point and question, one that Brazil is actually having to deal with now that they put in a reparations program of sorts. Who is black?

20 years? It should be no taxes for life, to be honest, since they already got more than what they deserve. That would be the fairest besides everything else you said. And also, the cops lose their job and pension if they harm you or yours.

Reparations could work in so many ways. People saying it’s unrealistic are short-sighted.

Agree, although the free school and resulting degree doesn’t do much to overcome the fact that people of color are underemployed regardless of the fact they are as or more qualified than their white peers.

Wow, that short list looks effective. I would like to see a comparative analysis of potential effects of doing this vs. direct cash stimulus. If only the candidates could unilaterally agree that we need to do one.

Forget the money. Give me:

This seems to be the agreed upon verse. What a monster! Getting me in trouble just for thinking about smacking my little brother upside his melon.

Not everyone, just white people. I literally stumped my liberal ass homie, when I asked him what a white person could do that would be racist outside of calling blacks nigger or saying I hate black people? He couldn’t even justify that there’d be anything else that he’d call racist.

My optimistic side says “Well, at least having a criminal record means they won’t ever work in a public trust role where their racism will affect policy or the rights of minorities.”

So the penalty for this brain trust is they get their weekends ruined for a while. Guess society’ll have to wait for them to elevate their hate game before any real punishments are handed out.
