More than 23 years.  The 23 years of forced labor merits 23 years in prison, but there should be a sentence for the physical battery as well.

I’m not outraged about the penalty because I’m outraged at the time sentenced. The offender’s prison time should be 23 years, but that’s just my opinion.

Mr. Smith needs a civil suit filed on his behalf against J&J Cafeteria. He should own that restaurant, any property owned by the family, all of their assets. It is impossible that the whole family was unaware of the enslavement of one of the employees.
