This. Land Cruiser/FJ or even a Jeep CJ. Will always be a classic, can be totally rebuilt repeatedly and can bring you to more places.

I never understood curfews for adult children in college. I think it is important to set some boundaries on being respectful, though: if it’s going to be after midnight or whenever you go to bed, a courtesy text letting you know they are okay and what their plans are is entirely reasonable to expect. But they don’t

Why on earth would you give a 20-year-old home for a short period of time from college a curfew?!? Maybe I’m an outlier, but when my kids are 20, they determine how to live their lives.

Exactly. Kids will want something where they have memories. The only memories they’ll have of the Boxter/Cayman is that Dad said we couldn’t go on his nightly “grocery run” because it’s only a two-seater. The LC will be a road trip machine. Surely they still publish those paper books with public off-road trails? My

Mine is going on 26 years and still going strong. My first kid pops out next year and we’re going to go on adventures together. If it survives 20 more years, I won’t blame my kid if it doesn’t want a 45 year old truck that gets 12 mpg.

Continue proper maintenance and he’ll be handing down his LC to his grandkids.

came here looking for this.  a land cruiser never dies.

Considering it’s been eight years since the bailouts, it’s fair to say there have been a lot of major shifts in automotive trends and the economy. GM has done well to avoid collapse again, but they’re being smart in trying to minimize the pain now instead of having it just be worse later if things don’t go better than

Meanwhile 12,714 Focus RS’s also remain for sale averaging $26,500 above MSRP.

Yeah the Cross Country is on dealer lots. But so are plenty of regular V90s so I expect a few months post release they’ll be around.

Configurator broken, won’t let me 3.3T and 6-speed manual...

My first thought was also a CPO Lexus IS300/350 AWD

Did this guy really line you all up to recommend a Miata and everyone of you failed to recommend it? How more perfect can his needs be that Miata isn’t the answer?

Surviving Jack was fantastic. I’ve watched that whole series 3 or 4 times. Christopher Meloni was awesome in it.

Hahaha, still though, I’m picturing a 11' long Cabrio, with 8' sheets of plywood and dude with a cigar smoker up front and some random corner of 1/2" ply loosely smoking.

I’ve always said and will continue to say that any winter tire comparison where the control is a summer tire can and ought to be discarded. The only people that drive summers in the snow are first time sun belt transplants, people who got caught off guard before they could switch to their winter tires/cars and morons.

...call fire department and just let them know where you’ll be throughout the day?

Bears love these things.

This makes me sad that Fred Savage’s sitcom the Grinder was cancelled. It was really good.

He was already making mad bank for being the hero of Renault and Nissan and he (allegedly) misused/stole more money from the company. How greedy/dumb do you have to be?
