hmmm. I am disappointed to hear that Dodge hasn’t managed to put together a nice enough package to be considered a contender against the platform sharing GLS. I am interested to hear if you can expound on why the GLS AMG gets it right while the Durango fails so miserably.

Months after I changed jobs I would get off at the exit for my old job and make it pretty close to the office before realizing I work somewhere else now. I can totally see forgetting a sleeping kid in the back seat during my morning commute.

I guess there’s little concern for the following racer crashing along the same path and crushing them all. What are the odds of that anyway? like 3:1?

I read these in the voice of ‘Lovey Howell’ from Gilligan’s Island. Probably about 2 generations before your time.

I thought we all learned from the Chevy “real people” ads that JD Powers was a made up award.

So, as follow up, what if a guy wanted to finance a car like this with at $10k+ markup? I could see in this case Honda Credit might go for it but what about the insurance company? Would Gap insurance cover up to the purchase price or just to MSRP?

I guess I didn’t make my comment clear enough for the quick read but I said that the damage looks repairable and my question was academic for such a case when a car is totaled. I would hope the insurance company would consider the insane markups as part of the market value calculation.

Presuming this guy paid the Market Adjusted Markup, I would be very interested to learn what the insurance company will pay, presuming again that the damage is bad enough to be totaled. It looks repairable so I understand this is only academic.

Must they? Even if they can’t?

Is there a chance FCA/Alfa will get their shit together and fix all the bugs on the giulia? If it can, is there a real chance that it will gain traction in the market or is it doomed to die on the vine?

If there’s any action that will encourage someone to move their truck, shooting out their tires to immobilize the vehicle does not immediately come to mind.

Is that really necessary on a 15 year old car? Maybe say something like:

i’m pretty sure the windshield was thought of a while ago.

I see you driving in the lead pic with the window cracked in the default ‘smoker’s vent’ position. I hope that doesn’t mean you smoke cigarettes, although I guess it would fit the demo of the people who would own something like this.

I hate myself for saying this but this design is finally growing on me. How long has this been on the market, 15 years? It’s like it’s been out long enough for me to become nostalgic for the simpler times in my life when this car was first launched.

That would be a great review and answer to my question, assuming you’ve driven both and can comment using your empirical evidence. The closest comparison I can draw is when I was shopping for my 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland Diesel and took an ML350 blue on a weekend long test drive from the local dealer. The Mercedes

FWIW, the 2.7 Eco can only tow 5000 pounds without the “trailer tow package” which comes with the oil/tranny coolers. With that it only gets you to 7k. You have to then get the max payload package and higher numerical axle ratio to get it up to 11K. I think the engine will pull fine but you have to pay up for the

You’re right re: platform sharing does not mean the cars are the same but I think you’re a bit off using the 350z/ FX analogy. The Durango and GLS are, dimensionally, very similar. Again, I’m not trying to make any claims on whether the Durango can hold it’s own against the GLS. In fact, one would hope that the extra

My mistake on the transmission. I’m not saying you’re wrong re: paper spec vs. real life, but I will wait to see what the person who has driven both has to say.

I agree the GLS looks better. Maybe it’s the way they handle the C pillar? It’s so fat on the Durango. And the front fascia looks much classier. For the interior, I bet you could throw $5k at the Durango and fix all the cheap plastic and still be way ahead. I think the SRT is coming with the same leather stitched
