Probably not. We ran into all sorts of problems there: editing and quality issues, confusion by casual readers and people in the industry, legal threats, posters using it to get press cars, etc. Plus Oppo’s not on my domain anymore. I get no traffic benefit from the shares.

The thing that pisses me off about the “enthusiasts hate CAFE standars and/or CARB” is that its clearly led to better cars especially for enthusiasts. We have far more driver friendly cars available to the average buyer now in a normal price range than awere ever available in the 80s or 90s.

VW’s cheat was specifically designed to avoid EPA testing, and while the EPA didn’t intially uncover it, they did a lot of important work to investigate and prosecute it, and are continuing to do a lot of the work to approve any repairs and make sure VW is keeping its side of the bargain.

You just made a strong case for INCREASING the budget to the EPA’s testing and certification department. The EPA can barely test a few percent of cars to check that they actually meet the standards, and that’s before the head dumb fuck cuts their budget by 99%...
