I’m Australian.
I’m Australian.
So that’s what a Sloppy Joe is. It’s one of those mystery foods (e.g., meatloaf, corndogs, Kool-Aid) that was referenced all the time in American media growing up, but I never heard of elsewhere. I had basically grasped that it was a burger that was, for some reason, extra messy.
Over the past century, the commonly farmed turkeys have been successfully bred to get larger and larger to the point where it causes huge welfare concerns, while rarer “heritage breeds,” are smaller and don’t grow as fast, closer to what wild turkeys are like.
But the real estate is so affordable!
Speculation: Joaquin’s new “gang,” is the Warden’s G&G group. The Warden could’ve recruited him while getting him to stab Archie.
I might be mistaken, but I thought the fight club wasn’t being held in a prison, but a local, supposedly abandoned rec center. Although that would leave us with the question of how the prison is able to hold the fights in the first place without it being noticed.
This is cute, but can someone make sure those lovely kitties are cared for and desexed?
Gonna quote my other comment here:
I think what makes this particularly nasty is that this was sent to someone who is, herself, a vegan. This poor freelancer made a polite, professional pitch to write about something she’s passionate about, and all she got in response was an entire paragraph of the editor rambling about hunting and killing people like…
Despite almost everyone being opposed to factory farming and 75% of people believing the animal products they buy were humanely produced, most farm animals (including almost all chickens and pigs) in the developed world are factory farmed - over 95% in the US, according to the ASPCA.
I’ve heard of it but not seen it - thanks for the recommendation, I’ll have a look at it.
Personally, I am all over prestige horror, although sometimes it works better for me in theory than in practice. (I mean, Grace or The Babadook perfectly fit the profile for the kinds of movies I love, but while neither are bad movies, I did find them somewhat disappointing.) But I’m not necessarily bothered by horror…
I don’t know that this is a subgenre, but I’m a sucker for a good character-based horror movie. Give me a May or a Ginger Snaps or a Let The Right One In, and I’ll be your fangirl for life. I don’t even care whether or not it’s scary.
Yeesh. I think I should stay far, far away from this show for the time being - I’m currently fostering a nursing cat and her litter, with no prior experience dealing with kittens. I’m already terrified I’ll fuck it up, I don’t need anything to add fuel to that fire.
I just want to point out that this motherfucker has endorsed a chain of “troubled teen,” rehabilitation camps that have a reputation for child abuse, with many of their camps being shut down due to controversy. And has sent teenagers who have appeared on his show to these places. I’m guessing he’s got a a deal to keep…
Using land unsuitable for cropping to feed cattle is the sort of situation where there isn’t a more efficient method of food production available.
I was delighted to find out Riverdale has a version of D&D that’s everything parents were irrationally terrified of in the 80s, and that’s only been topped this week by the reveal that all of Riverdale’s parents themselves have a ***secret history*** with this eeeevil roleplaying game.
Yeah. It’s classic do-gooder derogation - the instinct to tear down or belittle people who are trying to do something ethical, as a pre-emptive defense for not doing that thing.
Ahhh, yes, I’m the asshole for telling multiple people the same set of extremely relevant facts, when I should’ve been wandering around the comment section calling people names and building a strawman of people who make an effort to be an ethical consumer.
Smooth, it’s much easier to spread and it melts better on toast.
