I liked Sandman and didn't want to tarnish my feelings for it digging through Gaiman's other work, so I probably wouldn't have known American Gods if my ex didn't dig it so much.

I really love her in God Help The Girl, which is a musical from the guy who wrote most of Belle and Seabastian's stuff. It may be equally nauseating as Sucker Punch if you can't dig twee, but it's a favorite here.

I thought maybe the banana was the yellow in the heart / symbol there, but then nothing else matched up and I was wholly disappointed. Not a reddish caramel swirl and green peace signs?

Thanks friend. It's been a while but he was basically a therapy animal so it's doubly weird without him.

Numbing alcohol here. I miss my dead cat who would lick my whiskey and run away. That probably didn't help his health in retrospect. I've made myself sad.

I could be misremembering exact wording from my severe Dan fandom days, but Fagen and Becker have been pretty cruelly dismissive of it in past years.

I actually just put Brooklyn on a mix for a friend! I really enjoy Can't Buy A Thrill despite the eventual disowning of it (thankfully more for mixing standards than the performances)

Haha, so basically returning to the Can't Buy A Thrill model where Fagen wouldn't sing unless he had to. That would be pretty awesome. I do think his voice works a solid 30% of the time (pretty much any single as well as say Pretzel Logic and more intricate pieces like that), but I'd love to hear other interpretations

I like the groove of it, but the lyrics…man. And they are just high in the mix. I agree the lyrics for the Dan aren't super critical, but I'd prefer 70s near nonsense that floats with the music than this.

Regarding that Todd Rundgren and Steely Dan writing political songs: it really can't be any worse or better than GodWhacker was. For reference: https://www.youtube.com/wat…

I really dug it regardless. If Norm thinks he can do better and has any urge to, I'd love to see another special or the podcast continue.

I was trying to explain the appeal of 30 Rock to my father, and that joke sold him on it completely.

I like politics? This site, The Hill, Politico, and some healthcare wonkery are my general all purpose webpages. Just seems like giving it a devoted section rather than smattering would be more logical and an easy way to funnel views if that's the point.

Unless it's incredibly cruel and populist to whatever the given's party meaning of that term is!

I may be an old man - in fact, I'm fairly sure I am - but I'll put you Globetrotters in your place with my team of mutant atomic supermen!

Oh. Huh. Well the day planner could be helpful I guess.

The Duracells ads are so we have the energy to keep up the anger!

Yeah. I thought the same would happen to PC Music, but somehow they've kept going and actually playing with the sound. Vaporwave just seems to start and end in stasis, both in the boilerplate constraints to songcraft and in the philosophy behind it.

Why not just start a political section at this point if it gets the clicks? I mean, it has to be doing as well as bacon and spam recipes.

I almost fell asleep at a very long red light listening to this despite liking what I heard. I'm not sure if that counts as calming / soothing after the long day at work or just boring. Regardless, the cacophony of horns that ensued from my car not moving was a solid Colin Stetson release.
