Came here for this. ;)

True. Would have been appropriate even if recent news had not come to light.

But now it’s both appropriate and timely.

I thought Elmer Bernstein did a great job with the original.

I would have said that the biggest mistake is the utter disregard it has for the characters, or the overall attempt to “kiddi-fy” the franchise. But that works too.

No, that’s his son.

I thought Nicholson was a straight up, scary psychopath in the first movie. I wouldn’t call it “hammy,” just f’ing scary crazy.

Wasn’t there a whole “Red Skull wears makeup” thing? I didn’t understand that. Still lots of time and hassle for the actor, but ruins the classic character look.

Catwoman is supposed to be liquid sex in a body suit. Eartha Kitt and Michelle Pfeiffer are the 2 that have totally pulled it off.

I remember reading that Burton was skeptical about Keaton but immediately sold once he put the mask on.

As other examples, Ghostbusters 2 and Clue are somehow regarded as classic by the internet nowadays but I remember seeing those in the theater and thinking, “man, these movies are marginal at best.”

The only bit I did like is in that first clip, the shot of Batman floating down surrounded by bats, and only because it looked like they copied this poster, which I had on my wall at the time.

Yeah, I think the main issue with TMNT series isn’t that they grow weirder over time; it’s more that they seem to grow sillier (and usually more juvenile) over time. The Ghostbusters franchise went through a similar trajectory in the 80s; by the time The Real Ghostbusters ended, it was more of a straight cartoon.

That’s my problem with most Marvel movies and Star Wars. They are all so high stakes that everything feels overblown. More micro level one-offs would be better.

Holy shit - a Charles Band adaptation of Doctor Strange?

There was already an agreement. The agreement was he was supposed to appear and she was supposed to introduce him. I’m pretty sure the appearance was planned beforehand and the parameters were set at that time.

He’s bitter because they didn’t let him make his Muppet movie with his Muppet script. It’s called “The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made”, it dates back to Jim Henson’s lifetime, and who knows, maybe it would be hilarious, and they probably SHOULD let him make it now.

“One soiled.”

Its not perfect, but Disney is at least doing better by the Muppets than Warner Bros. is doing by the Looney Tunes.

Basically, she sprung a last-minute change on him

tossing out an insult (even in a joking manner) to someone you don’t know just because they didn’t want to do your “bit” is being kind of a dickhead imo.
