I do think there is an element of truth to the “dignity of the office” idea, at least in the sense that the office of the Presidency is a stronger and higher institution than any individual who occupies it (in fact, knowing that it is a strong enough institution to survive even this President is somethung that helps

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s more his role as an editor. If he was behind the decision to pin all the old Concourse articles to the top of the site, that would do the trick. Godspeed, Barry.

Maybe he’ll answer your question in next week’s 100% sports-themed Funbag.

Same here, can I join your pity party?

What about that year we started the season with Joe Sakic and Peter Forsb— oh, wait.

Hey now, it’s only white men who refuse to acknowledge wrongdoing.  Orange men do it too.

Yeah, you can tell they tried to avoid the faux apology language at first when it started with “I am deeply sorry and embarrassed”... And then totally fell apart from there. When will PR reps learn to write apologies that sound even remotely sincere?

Wow. This adds some important context. While following this story, I kept thinking what odd, random behavior this was for Taubman to just pick the first women he saw to start shouting at about Osuna.

Your overall point is correct, but 15 or 20 years ago?  You know QBs had speakers in 2004, right?

Not unlike Manning in Denver with McCoy and then Gase as OCs. Shit, I could’ve coached those offenses to record breaking years... All I’d need to do is stay out of Manning’s way.

I sympathize with you regarding the Bears and 100% agree with your take on fair weather fandom (I have no interest in investing time or money in an organization if they won’t invest in an entertaining product)...

Another teacher here... trying not to ne a defensive one. I’m honestly sick of the grandstanding on both sides of this conversation. On your side, its a bold-ass statement for you to say the majority of teachers are bad, and it doesn’t match with my experience of other teachers. People pile on teachers because it’s an

Edit: inherently racialized way to frame it, not radicalized.  Even my damn autocorrect doesn't want to talk about race.

This is a really insightful point. As a white dude, I struggle with the disconnect... I know personally there are good people who are cops (which makes the all cops are bad argument sometimes hard to swallow) but I also see that there is a systemic, nationwide epidemic of excessive police violence, particulary towards

Hmm... you want a question answered earnestly, it seems.

Agree X 1000.

The difference is Ratto does it better than fucking Woody Paige or whoever.  Yes, he rights in that traditional sports columnist style, but is insight is cutting and his writing is powerful.  I'd never heard of Ratto before he came to Deadspin, but he raises the quality of writing here, and I like that he's a

This deserves way more stars. Only comment today that’s made me laugh out loud.

I’ll take it one step further. Let’s get rid of the crawl altogether. In the age of DVR, I spend more time trying to avoid seeing scores on the crawl for games I've recorded...  And as you said, I can look up scores on my phone in half the time anyway.  The crawl only exists to clutter the broadcast and spoil games
