Most of the trailering add-ons are exactly that. Not sure if they put a module or fuse box in it that will not accept trailer hookups or what.

Pre-wiring should be a prerequisite. Remote start, trailer towing, etc. Just put it in there. One harness versus having to make two, or an add-on.
