Thank you for sharing him. And thank you for not making it a contest about which city deserves to mourn him more.

Just because he meant something to Philly, doesn’t mean he meant less to Toronto or baseball in general. This is an article written by a PHILLIES fan about the player WE knew and adored. You want one about Doc as a Blue Jay, write it your damn self! You think a Phillies fan would be able to do justice to what he meant…
Thank you for this. I’m so glad I didn’t see this a work. I’m a blubbering mess at home.
I understand where you’re coming from, but so often fathers just give up because the family court system doesn’t provide them with many avenues to parent beyond being an ATM. In many areas, the best they can hope for is 4 nights a month and paying amounts that don’t really make sense. It’s immature and wrong to walk…
My alma mater uses Green Wave as well. It’s on the tallest point in the town on top of a hill. Also, Hilltoppers.
Exactly. School personnel are mandated reporters as well as nurses. Both made a call to CPS, they both had much more than what the author here is describing. As an educator, my best guess is that it wasn’t her refusal to have her son medicated, but more like a refusal to participate in the process to get him the…
Look at that, a girl in her 20s can grow and learn...
But, they lost their scholarships for something they did while under that honor code. I am well aware that standards while in university are unfairly applied. I’d argue that it needs to be harsher on athletes while in school, but that applying it to acts previously committed when considering enrollment, we need to…
I’m with you. I understand the argument, but it feels...hypocritical to say that certain crimes deserve life sentences or societal shunning regardless of circumstances.
Thank you. I was struggling with really explaining what I was thinking and you put it so eloquently.
But, where does that end? That’s such a slippery slope, I don’t like where it seems to end.
Very few players are highlighted that way, though. Who’s to say he’ll be on promotional items? Could the team simply say he can’t be in the spotlight because of his crime and then it wouldn’t be a problem? Being a member of a football team does not always equal a PUBLIC presence, a campus presence, sure. But, he’s…
I think there’s a major distinction between grown men and teenage boys. Given the lack of education regarding consent, I don’t think it unreasonable to hope a teenager learned to do and be better. Unfortunately, in order to truly know if they did is to give them a second chance.
It would be sound advice to mention all of that. Simply stating “sign and new lease and maybe give him a week notice” is not sound advice.
I’d say it’s sound advice to have a place lined up to move to immediately if necessary. It’s not sound advice to suggest going so far as to sign a lease before the conversation. Getting another lease is not the only option that guarantees that you can give/get space.
I remember that story! I literally told my other half about it about 2 weeks ago when I was making sure my tampon string was tucked wayyyy in my swimsuit!
Fuck that. I don’t wait. I straight up tell them it’s messed up and put the money down.
The issue is that tips are calculated on percentage of sales, not amount of service. Servers have to report a percentage of sales to be taxed, therefore if your tip is less than that percentage, they end up losing money, because they have to pay more in taxes than they made.
I think volleyball has changed the most drastically in a short period of time. I agree with your assessment of the level of high school sports. Especially when you add in the rise of club leagues.
High School teachers aren’t participating anymore because the teaching workload for many of them is too large to add in a concurrent job and still find work-life balance. I’ve known many HS teachers in their 20s-30s that used to coach/ref but couldn’t balance it with teaching and family.
