To me what you’re talking about is adults taking advantage of technological progress to both handle their shit and be a faithful football fan, after it becomes impractical or irresponsible for them to make Sunday all about football. Yeah, maybe the most faithful fan I know rocks Tivo instead of having his life revolve

Try being in SF- between the incoming traffic on the Warriors’ bandwagon and outgoing on the Niners’, the past few years have been illuminating. And annoying.

It’s such an endearing human quality to disappear when the going gets tough. I can’t help you move, but I’ll be the first person diving into your fridge at the housewarming party. Sounds like you’ll understand.

I think the same general principles are behind this crap I increasingly see, especially around here, about it being cool to be a fairweather/bandwagon fan now.

Of course being a bandwagon fan is easy. That’s the point, that’s why people do it, and that’s why you’re lame for it. You just care sooooooo much that it’s impossible for you to act like a grown up and take an L in something you have no control over in stride, so you have to tune out when your prospects are dim?

I feel like the generations who come up having everything on demand on their phones all the time are not going to place the same value on being able to plop down on the couch every Sunday to watch football as we did. The idea of already looking forward to Sunday on Monday over football will be silly to them.

Well, it’s players and owners fighting the league’s decisions taking them to court so that’s on them more than “the league,” AKA Goodell. But otherwise that’s a great point and I agree. Makes the plaintiffs look like spoiled assholes, and gives the appearance that a lot of shady shit goes down to placate the more

And this is the same person who tried to tell us that the Niners’ attendance issues had absolutely nothing to do with the state of the team...

I said it elsewhere in here, the terrible Thursday night games are the gateway to turning your back on televised football.

I think they could nip it in the bud somewhat if they did something about the crap prime-time games. Overexposure is the clear issue here. What’s crazy is that their biggest mistake was perhaps the most well-intentioned thing they’ve ever done, which was moving the marquee game from MNF to SNF in an effort to look out

It’s pretty fucking hard to stay invested in a bad team under those circumstances

A guy talking his way into a GM job with no experience is unique.

Yeah that sounded harsher than it needed to. Contra Costa County is aggressively conservative enough, relatively speaking, that I will take some creative license with it.

In what slightly-informed circles is Contra Costa Co. considered “liberal?”

Of course it was worth the gamble, for Lynch. He’s on a six-year contract.

It’s OK, he’s a Browns fan.

It’s almost like all the real GMs in the league saw this coming from a mile away...

I was gonna reply and mention it to the original poster, but something else to consider is that I think the Warriors kinda skipped a generation of fans. I’m 43, East Bay born and raised, everybody who was around at least for Run TMC knew the deal- we were a respectable, worthwhile franchise even with a crap absentee

It can be bad. It’s new jacks overcompensating, competing to see who can come up with the deepest self-congratulatory takes. Nobody I know who’s a lifer rolls like that.

Somebody doesn’t live in SF...
