Wasn’t the whole rear fuselage and tail section going to have to be redesigned between the X-32 and the production version? Plus they had major issues producing the wings. Its been a long time since I saw the Documentary on them.
Right, the North American production line in ‘58 was full of F-100s!
If it was built in 1958 it would be sharing the North American production line with F-100s!
1958 is when it was out of USAF/ANG service and got a civilian registration the Serial# on the aircraft shows 1944 production date. The last P-51 made would be in ‘45 (P-51 H). (serial # 44-84896 the first two digits are a production year)
