Once again I’m appreciating still having a Wii U. If I ever feel the need to play Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time again, I can think about plugging that in again and just do it for free. Or not, I’m kind of sick of those games honestly. I rented the Skyward Sword remake and got about an hour in before deciding, “Why am I

That’s the only useful thing about Nanab berries. They keep the thing in the center of the screen. (Of course you have to wait for it to go back there, otherwise it will just stay on the right side forever...)

The U.S. page is exactly the same. This is separate from that.

It’s the “man bites dog” paradox where if someone expresses views that 80% of Americans agree with, it’s not news. So you’d almost never hear about it.

Sequence-breaking is not cheating, learn to read! (I will post this exact same comment hundreds of times in this thread to bring balance.)

Just because you get a bunch of free money from the bank doesn’t mean you robbed it.

Yeah, they really did chicken out and rewrite the article without saying so. Original version is still on the Australia site: https://www.kotaku.com.au/2021/10/metroid-dread-is-already-running-great-on-switch-emulators/

This isn’t right down the middle though. This is almost everybody being on one side vs. two commenters with a lot of time on their hands trying to make up the other side by repeating the same comments over and over.

Not “many others,” just one guy, hundreds of times.

People who like to complain?

I played Super Metroid long after release (on the Virtual Console I think), and really enjoyed it. So no nostalgia goggles for me: I agree with those who say it’s one of the best games ever. I’ve replayed it a couple times since.

Konami should really focus now on what they’re best at.

Writers on this site get outraged over really little things sometimes. “Nearly unusable” is not a reasonable phrase in this headline.

The only time I’ve ever had regular video game play sessions with friends was the original Super Monkey Ball on the Gamecube. Glad to hear this one is good, since people kept complaining about all the ones in between.

Nonlinearity doesn’t take up any space. A design document can fit on a floppy disk, along with the entire game script.

The Wii U version of the Prime Trilogy remake is only $20 on the Nintendo eShop. (The original Wii disc is very rare and expensive now.) Good deal for anyone who wants to try improved versions of the games.

Hard as hell though. I never got very far.

The huge difference between Metroid and Super Metroid is that in Metroid you have no way to know where to go, and you are constantly facing obstacles to progress without being told how to fix it. No map is only one of the problems with it; the extremely punishing difficulty makes the exploration really tedious, and

Metroid Zero Mission is a remake of the original NES Metroid but with the handholding from Super Metroid and later games. It is much, much better. And it’s available on the Wii U, so if you can find one of the ten people in the world who own one, you can try it yourself.
