It’s better than this:

Rose-tinted nostalgia glasses on, but that is a handsome 4 seat convertible with a truly interesting driveline. Yes, it is “wrong wheel drive”, but since it is already skewed towards luxury, that really doesn’t matter too much. It’s a shame about the colour, but the condition is lovely.

The smell!  You nailed it.  In Ontario, many convenience stores include a Subway.  Personally I can’t stand the way that restaurant smells, so I will also avoid using the convenience store for anything.  Is it the bread?  Is it the stuff that preserves the vegetables?  Is it just a miasma of self-loathing?

Agreed. If the service manager had said we need to try and recreate the issue by putting miles on it, and as a result I am going to drive it outside of my work day to see if we can do that, the issue would have likely been avoided.

I’m certainly not trying to be obstinate. We agree that the dealer has screwed this up and severely damaged the relationship with the customer. I am only suggesting that there is perhaps an explanation for why the car has 425 additional miles on it having to do with a re-occurring problem, and if so, it likely should

You have no idea about what the person who drove the car to the bar dd or didn’t do. Perhaps it the employee was a bartender or server, and was working a second shift. Or maybe it was the service manager or dealer principal driving the car, because he or she felt that was the best way to ensure it wasn’t hooned or

There isn’t a version of this in the Elantra 5 door, is there?  With all the configurable things?  And the 270+ horsepower?

It is amazing how many problems can be avoided with clear communication. The Land Rover had been serviced three times for the same issue, and brought back a fourth time. The service manager likely should have said that there next course of action would be to take the vehicle for an extended time period, and put some

Mine too.  It’s amazing how well it has aged -- it is so beautiful.  Certainly in the top three Ferraris in my eyes in terms of looks.

Best.

I had the privilege of driving a Miata Cup car for a 30 minute session at Calanogie Motorsports Park.  I’ve driven many cars on that track, but that may be the most sublime of them all.

I love your writing for so many reasons. As soon as I saw the headline in the Kinja preview I knew it had to be your article.

Every single Cuban tour bus I’ve ridden on (10+) is a manual, and every single driver has this same touch . . .

Yes, that’s a fair point to make indeed.

I understand what you are saying here.  My point, though, is that the “advice” was to have first try a reasonable conversation with the owner.  Really --m the low-hanging fruit here.

It is astonishing how many workplace annoyances could be resolved by a direct, courteous, and thoughtful conversation between those involved.  I’m sorry you didn’t have a better question to answer today.

Should have been vantablack . . .

This is fantastic.  Thank you for sharing it.

That’s a good point . . .  I bet there own yearbook has countless pictures of student athletes taking posing in a similar position.

I’m happy to offer up the door to my classroom for the poster. My heart breaks for the teacher and the students who see this for the chickenshit piece of cowardice that it is.
