basically yeah. I think decompressed storytelling can work great in trek (DS9 is a testament to this) but telling the story of the Dominion War over years is so much different than the formula DISCO has been using and stumbling over every season.

And I don’t get why. There’s some modern shows that show it can still work (Black Mirror for ultra episodic, Person of Interest for procedural with an overarching plot)

By no means does a show need to go all in, of course, but it remains interesting to me how comfortable American filmmakers are with showing graphic violence while shying away from even moderately lurid sex.

Finally, QR codes just seem lazy. Like, the restaurant doesn’t want to pop for the few bucks it costs to put out menus, so they offload that (admitted) pain to the customer, who has to navigate their usually crappy website.

The only restaurant I’ve encountered the last few years where I was expected to pay via the same menu QR code...also required that I make an account on some new service I’m never going to use again because no other website requires it. Sorry, not putting my card info into some random website for an overpriced beer.
