Y’know, I turned 30 this this and began a gargoyles rewatch. While I mostly do not enjoy the show as an adult - melodramatic and kind of pretentious - *exactly* the kind of thing I would’ve loved as a kid. The more I watch the more I see how it influenced my taste growing up

You know: As someone who read way too many star wars books growing up, the new jedi order stuff never really appealed to me. Maybe this is a hot take but from when I was a kid watching the end of ROTJ to now as an adult, there was never really a part of me that saw Luke going forward to re-establish the Jedi order.

anyone who can justify why this is a good idea should get shoved into the same volcano as the people who came up with this dumb ass idea

in a year full of sad, twisted, downright batshit news stories, I don’t know if I’ve read anything else this year that just made me stop and stare up at the ceiling for a while.

yeah the deepfake version here only looks slightly better than what we got on screen, and not by much

legitimately do not believe it was de-aging. if so it looks much, much worse than any other attempts we’ve seen in media the last two decades (the stewart/mckellan de-aging in X3, the RDJ de-aging in Civil War, the Douglas in Antman & the Wasp)

looking up this actor - I would not have minded if they’d just passed him off at Luke Skywalker! Especially seeing as he kinda looks like he could’ve been the son of Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker

Wait....hamil was actually involved in that Mando finale? Even though the voice sounded nothing like him? And the “de-aging” made him look like a PS3 cutscene?

I love that “the air of this planet makes you trip balls” episode

See, I thought season 1 was pretty strong, 2 was great, 3 was fine and 4 was dreadful - and I say that thinking s4 had some of the strongest writing and directing, but the flood of multi-parters really wore the show down. Why why there was a 4 part augment storyline? Just awful.

I completely forgot that show did its own version of Spider-verse

I used to feel the same way. Now I love faith of the heart - in fact, I got pretty cranky when they started using a different version starting in the 3rd season

I’m curious. I almost suspect she will just end up in that pre-TOS era disco was set in, just so they could keep reusing sets and uniforms, but I also suspect they might want to establish a little more of that post-Dominion War, pre-Romulus Supernova era.

having just wrapped up the enterprise temporal cold war plot: god that show does not get enough credit. archer has really shot up to being one of my favorite captains after sisko.

wow this article is the right intersection of my own dashed hopes and dreams and specific flavor of self-loathing.

I have never heard Kring make this claim but holy hell. I mean, I remember being 14 and hype that we were essentially getting a televised days of future past at one point

its wild to see this after the jokes of the last few days about december 21st and how that’s brought heroes back into the conversation on social media.

agreed. I thought the movie was a drag and it wasn’t helped by Washington’s completely charmless performance

I don’t understand why inverted people can breath air indoors but need oxygen to breathe it outside

I think where I always regarding simulation theory is....you prove it. Now what? Do we all quest to escape the simulation? Shut it down? Does the mechanism of our society fundamentally change by the knowledge (would we abandon capitalism and the pursuit of profit if we knew it was truly all just 1s and 0s?)
