The Ford Probe is what comes to mind when I think of cars that just up and disappeared. They were everywhere, and now they are nowhere.
As a WI resident, what is this magic you speak of? It seems like everything around here manages to rot no matter what you do.
Ford bought into Jaguar in 1990. The XJ220 started production in 1992. I’m sure it was in the design/engineering stages before Ford was involved, and I’d guess that the huge cash influx that a “real company” brings to the table actually helped this thing get out the door.
Cape Town to Port Elizabeth was a hell of a scenic drive. Add in the bonus excitement from doing a road trip when you’re halfway around the world from home, and driving on the wrong side. It’s definitely one of those things I’ll remember forever.
NP.
I have a 77 B. I know all about parts that shouldn’t fail, yet somehow do. Also, that sounds like an awesome project, and should be a blast to drive.
I feel similarly, but I have a feeling the only way to win the battle going forward is going to be to buy old cars without all the tech I don’t want/need.
gutted MGB
if it ain’t Level 5 autonomy, then it ain’t autonomous driving.
This is the kind of content I come here for. That was great.
Reverse: slow news day, hey?

The turbo was more, at $43,979, and the convertible a few grand higher yet (but no turbo version of those). My dad has always made reference to them “soaring up to $55k by the…
Interesting. A buddy of mine acquired a pickup that had been smoked in religiously. In a previous lift, it was another friend’s work truck for a tile company, and was used as the office/smoking lounge. Anyway, a good cleaning and some time with the ozone machine, and the truck doesn’t smell like cigs at all now. …
Well said. I’m in the Milwaukee area (and have been my whole life). I don’t even ride, but HD is a fixture here, and one that I would be sad to see go away.
This dead horse will continue to be beat until the money train stops rolling.
Eh, I’m all for a good AV setup at home, but without a purpose-built theater room, you’re not going to touch the quality that a real movie theater provides. I have a larger audio setup than most, and it’s great for what it is -- but it doesn’t replace a theater. Oh, not to mention that Netflix/Amazon seem to degrade…
I’d be careful forcing fluid back through the ABS block like that. I’ve seen weird stuff happen after that.
I’m not trying to be insensitive, or a dick, or anything of the sort, but what in the world does Juneteenth have to do with automotive journalism?
