I agree that Mary Barra didn’t cause the pandemic (and it’s unfair of President Trump to somehow pillory her) but my point was not that the US government shouldn’t provide assistance now, it was that the cost recovery for all this largess (and phase 4 to come) should not be at the expense of the middle and lower class

“civil?”

That has essentially been President Trump’s approach to most markets and commodities.  And unlike much of his administration’s actions, many Democrats (I’m looking at you Marcy Kaptur and Sherrod Brown, Ohio’s precious protectionist pair!) have been supportive.  However, the “emergency” status which he claimed

Cost is directly proportional to productivity, which itself is directly proportional to capital investment. I’m not yearning for the “good-old-days” of repetitive, tedious hand-building (Google “Lordstown Syndrome.”) But an efficient factory in Michigan can produce cars (O.K, trucks too) at a price that’s competitive

True. And at one point, half of the registered bikes in the US were Harleys. However, that segment was largely limited to North America, and Harley never really tried to expand their market footprint beyond selling FatBoys to Fat Guys. Harley is now dipping it’s toes into “adventure” bikes, but Buell was selling

Another “whatabout-ism?” That’s all you’ve got?

Even if you support the president, you have to admit he has to own the government’s response to this challenge, which has been mostly slow and confused. He didn’t pay any attention until his two favorite campaign metrics - DJIA and unemployment rate - began going sharply in the wrong direction.

lack of insurance coverage is an immoral reason not to treat someone in medical need. That said, did this Urgent Care center (e.g. wrapping sprains and suturing wounds) have appropriate facilities to treat this patient? If not, he might have been transported to that general facility immediately on acceptance as a

1st Gear: “Give us money for free”

I was wrong. The DJIA closed down 13%. Investors are clearly still doubting that this political leadership can keep the economy from tanking in the near and middle term. (I.e. we will have recessionary 2Q and 3Q this year.) But “good news everyone”
