Styling decision

Anyone who loves cars and isn’t an asshole is fine by me!

It was dead a while ago. The Opel-based thing wasn’t remotely “beloved”

Bring vent windows and manual transmissions back to trucks! Bring back grandpa-spec!

There’s good ways to go about capitalism and bad ways, lol.

This was my first thought when I saw “car salesman”

I used to work for a dealership where the manager would routinely flip trades for himself, including an E39 M5 with 30,000 miles that they paid like $10k for. Pretty sure he got in trouble eventually but he easily made six figures doing it.

I want it.

You’re entitled to your opinion!

Makes sense, I always felt most of the S cars were a sweet spot in Audi’s lineup. They’re not prohibitively more expensive than the standard A cars if you’re careful with option choices, and I think they feel different enough to be worth the money.

Shame about the dead manual option, though. I test drove an S4 a while

Ugly and way overrated. It’s pretty dull to drive IMO.

Also Kia/Hyundai make popular cars, but the used market doesn’t trust them to last and neither do I.

Luxury German car ownership is the opposite of an acquired taste. Everyone wants it, tries it, loves it, and when it’s time for the next one (or the warranty runs out) they realize how bad it actually is.

What it boils down to is that we just have different driving needs, lol. I see where you’re coming from.

Having said that, I doubt you’ll get $30k of extra fun in an RS5 over a loaded A5, which is no slouch and will handle most passing and merging needs just fine. Hell, a 2.0T with some upgrades and a tune will

I’ve got a buddy with a Mustang GT PP2 and it’s absolutely a fantastic car. Would never fault someone for buying one.

But yeah, I went for a ride and it was so serene. You put your foot down and you’re past whatever you were trying to pass. Unfortunately it’s a little boring, especially when doing that doesn’t even

Haven’t tried it! I’d like to.

I love those! Makes all the right noises, has the correct number of pedals, great choice!

“Performance metric” is exactly the type of thing I’m talking about. I’m saying that I think it’d be rad if people focused less on stats and more on the experience. I understand that to be pretty unlikely because it’s hard to sell an experience without some statistics to back it. Nobody is going to brag about selling

Or a GTI on its third water pump, second clutch, and second cylinder head!

I don’t think those count as mods though.

Sure, but at the end of the day you’re driving a $100,000 A5 Sportback (a comfortable, good-looking, competent car in its own right) until you put your foot down. If it did anything special at normal speeds, I’d be able to get into something like this.

Also it’s your fault you choose to watch low-rez cat videos

Yeah, the purpose of my comment wasn’t supposed to be shaming people for wanting an RS5, I’m sure it’s a terrific car, seems practical for daily use, etc.

It just seems like a whole lot of money spent for capability that you’re only going to be able to use like 10% of the time you’re driving. My Miata (only using as

I’m confident that you missed my point.

I also disagree, but that’s another can of worms.
