MK6GTI-now with added Miata

It seems like the trend lately is toward straight-line speed as curb weights go up. Relatively little mention was given to how this car handles; the focus was on acceleration and brakes.

Look, I like being pinned in my seat as much as the next guy, but where am I gonna use that 3.8 second party trick on my daily

Meanwhile I’m out here trying to find a brake kit that fits 16" wheels for my Miata! I like my sidewalls thicc and juicy

As a Miata owner, this horrifies me. The thing gets 32 MPG no matter how I drive it and the engine noise and operating the shifter are a crucial part of the experience to me. There’s better cars to focus the electrification push on than a 2500-lb economical sports car. Please.

Well you go ahead and be right, I’ll go ahead and enjoy my choice lol. If I wanted to be fast, there’s plenty of other cars I could have bought.

There’s no correct transmission. That’s why they offer both.

People who care about getting to 60 in a couple tenths quicker can get the DSG, people who enjoy manuals can get the manual. I personally never even test drove a DSG because I wanted three pedals.

They’re honestly both great in that car, and their sales

I just want to come out and say how cool it is that Radwood has grown enough to the point where manufacturers are getting involved. I’ll be there on Saturday!

It does look like it could use a marital aid

I’m not trying to throw shade, I’m genuinely curious: do y’all actually like the way this thing looks?

Mildly? Mildly special?

I lost a race to a 3.5 Sienna once on my CBR250, lol.

I know that’s not saying much because it’s a 24 horsepower bike, but to people who don’t know how slow those bikes are, that was probably pretty funny to watch. It’s passable as a “sportbike”.

I see these on CL more frequently than I expected. I learned to drive in a 2003 Camry with the automatic, and I’m always nostalgic for it. Been tempted to pick up a 5 speed one for commuting and to appease the 16 year old car enthusiast in me that always wished ours was a stick.

I eat in my cars all the time. Not proud of it, but it’s a nice private spot away from my office where I can watch Netflix and eat a sandwich.

This is fantastically 90s and I love it for that.

Do I actually want it though? Hell no, especially for that price.

What a weird article.

Also, here’s another pic

What you’re suggesting has been done before. Look at VW in the US market.

The MK5 Jetta vs. the MK6 Jetta.
The B6 Passat vs. whatever the code is for the new one.

For quite a while, maybe the entire 90s, Volkswagens were a slightly upscale alternative to a Japanese or American economy car. The Jetta in GLX trim was like

Yeah it’s those meaty side bolsters, they kill airflow around your back so AC doesn’t help much. It’s got to a point where I keep an extra shirt in the car just in case. Then again I’m sweatier than most people I guess lol.

Oh it definitely is, no arguments there. I tend to dislike leather in most cars, unless we’re talking high-end stuff where ventilated seats start to become the norm. It also tends to wear out and look shitty if not properly maintained. I’m not a fan.

Also bonus points for being the first time I’ve ever seen the words

Ah yes, the meticulously maintained “Zero fucks given” look. To let everyone know you really care about not giving a fuck.

So you cost the next guy around a gallon of gas. Kinda shitty, out of principle.

Eh, there’s almost always a slightly overpriced gas station near the airport for exactly this reason. Still cheaper than prepaying.
