Late to chime in here, but it really depends on the seat and the person.

If it’s a heavily-bolstered sport seat, it gets a little stuffy and warm back there. I actually tend to get a sweaty back if I drive for long enough. There’s cloth seats in both of my cars. Leather is definitely a lot worse though.

I think I’ll pass on downloading these wallpapers, thanks. The lighting is weird and the car is a little too fuckboy.

That’s my whole point, I don’t demand perfection of my shift times. I enjoy doing it myself. The speed of my shifts has no impact on how long it takes me to get to work, so the extra speed of an automatic isn’t worth the loss of involvement.

Exactly. If your sole purpose for driving a car is getting to work, get an automatic. If your sole purpose is the fastest lap time, go ahead and get the PDK/DCT/whatever. I find a manual more engaging, and that’s more important to me than anything else as cars become bigger, heavier, and more numb.

The fact that a

My aunt had a purple 1996 Millenia. Always thought it was cool, if a bit weird.

You’re entitled to your opinion. I prefer a manual over an automatic regardless of number of gears?

Cooled seats are equally wonderful if you’re prone to being a little sweaty and gross like me.

Well yeah, I had meant in terms of Jalops, I don’t think people here will hold this opinion against him.

The fuck do you mean “sorry to be that guy” missing the manual transmission on a 3 series? Everyone is that guy.

I’m now envisioning that car rolling slowly down a street with the hazards and the reverse lights (now red) flashing back and forth. Pretty visible and practical, huh?

My ND needs a setup like this.

Maybe they had separate reverse lights that were brighter?

Still doesn’t really explain why they had an entire separate part, I guess.

Yup I was born in 1992. This is not a new phenomenon, it just has a catchphrase now.

The difference is that this was born on the faceless internet so you get a lot of false positives (calling non-boomers boomers) to the point where it’s just becoming a canned response to disagreement.

I don’t hate the meme, but I’m

This just in: Crotchety old man says some shit a crotchety old man would say.

Don’t read too much into the “Ok boomer” thing. It’s largely a way to be trendy while complaining about old people like every generation before has done. Same way “millennial” is almost a slur in some circles.

I can see how with proximity keys that this would become an issue. If the key is somewhere in the car, you can start it. You’d have to leave the key outside, which is something people are understandably reluctant to do.

I wonder how the law treats cars that can be started with a phone app?

Eh yeah, lemons happen.

Having said that, I don’t feel mine is abnormally unreliable, my mechanic has had a lot of EA888s with the same carbon buildup issue at the time mine showed up, and the water pump thing is well-documented. It’s just not a very good design for longevity without valve cleaning.

Re: your dad’s

Ooh, is it anecdotal evidence time?

2012 MK6 GTI 6MT, 90k miles. Owned it since new, always maintained in accordance with recommended intervals, usually 8k miles with the oil changes instead of recommended 10k. Let’s break down my ownership experience:

Me too! See you on the pedestal!

“Really nice wheels”

Hard, HARD disagree. They look like something Honda designed. Pass.
