Would the sign even have to be fully visible, ie, what if someone used IR paint or a IR light system.

There may be some newer cars that do it differently, but this has been a common thing for two or three decades on many cars, not sure if it's infrared keyfobs or radiofrequency keyfobs, or both.
Here in the U.K. and Europe, the indicators are used to signal when the car is being locked or unlocked. The indicators make sense as at least one lense is fully visible from any angle around the car.
Well Ford Europe have done one off Ford Transit Connect Express with a Ford Focus RS Mk1 drivetrain. 212bhp 2.0 Turbo.
Regretfully after years of saying no to chlorinated chicken, I read this the other day.
I think visiting is by appointment but I’m sure they’ll be happy to see you once things have cooled off a little.
Ye’, the D90 Wolf (TUL) and D110 Wolf (TUM) came out in 1998, aka Land Rover Defender XD, had a stronger chassis, some of the Landies are Wolf's, but not all of them. If your in the U.S. you'll have to wait a couple more years until they are legal but they can make an older Landy with a Wolf chassis and parts.
They can make them into whatever the customer wants, keep the olive drab or camo, or make them into regular soft tops, station wagons, etc... these guys/gals keep them as stock as possible while overs like Twisted, JE Motors, etc... either performance modify them or turn them into expedition vehicles.
My condolences to your Mother in law’s kith and kin.
I have no idea about cars other than how to clean them but watching that gearbox strip and rebuild was like catnip.
They just did an hour long strip down and rebuild of a Toyota E154F gearbox.
For the Espace and Grand Espace, quite a few were diesel automatics, even here in the U.K.
Ye', it was often called the 'bullnose Transit'.
If they allowed other car companies in it would force the home companies to get off their butts and not just do pickups after pickups after pickups, oh throw in some way over powered 2+2s in there, make em RWD, give em something to play with.
