It’s one thing for GM to dominate the electric market, it’s just that GM isn’t in many car markets.

Could be before 1909 the cars weren’t of any substance to import and utilitarian vehicles could be made and sourced locally. Post 1916, most vehicle manufacturing was set aside for the war effort. Anyone and everyone making trucks, early tanks, mono and bi planes, etc...
