At least they will be dirt cheap soon.  Thanks BMW.

I am, admittedly, one of those people who lost interest when the truth came out about the BMW content.

To be fair, I do have the Supra to thank for making me come to the hard realization that....yeah. I guess I probably could live with a BMW if it came down to it. I mean, assuming it was the only 2+2 with a straight six, rear-wheel drive, a manual transmission and twin-turbos like a MKIV.

Then you hear that BMW and Toyota didn’t get along during development, and the relationship became like a bad honeymoon. That’s not what I want in a car -- when the designers and engineers don’t dig into a problem, but throw their arms up in frustration and leave someone else to solve it.

Exactly. I wanted a Supra my whole life. Its really a BMW? Okay. I can deal with that. Its only an auto??!?

You can’t take a heritage car and bring it back as a rehash of another brand’s car. There is no excuse for Toyota doing this. Toyota knows how to make a sports car, and even if they wanted to be totally lazy, they could’ve taken the Lexus RC and started there.

Really agree with this. To the non-gearhead, the Supra was just an old Toyota, and the new one is just a pricey sportscar with an uncool Toyota logo on it.

Yes, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s different in a very real and meaningful way from what it would be without BMWs participation.

You mean besides the last Supra? It’s longblock was good for 600WHP and the Skyline’s was good for 500WHP

Since we’ve had a teardown, is it still inferior to the supra inline 6 of legend?

“All you have to do is completely disassemble and reassemble the engine!”

Yeah, I was looking at a table of the ratings, and blanked on the different units. That makes the problem even more of an issue. Although, the engine in the Supra is rated higher than that, so I presume there’s a lot of wiggle room.

I really love when you look at what the 8HP95 comes in it’s a list with an average MSRP somewhere around $400,000, if I were guessing. Then the Jeep Trackhawk.

I never really liked the design of the front of the car, but figured it would look better in person. I saw one on the road today and was taken aback just how ugly the snout is. Good Lord.

Really? Not seeing it, at all. The only thing Toyota about it is that they hit it with the ugly stick. This is a BMW in a kimono, pure and simple.

I was worried about potentially having to rebuild my M30 this winter. After seeing this 3 cam nonsense, I see it could be so much worse.

People have been tuning the B58 for a while now right? The S58 comes with 503hp from the factory, so i presume its a good platform to build stupid amounts of power with. The question what to do about the transmission, while the ZF 8HP can be spec’d up to 900ftlbs of torque(8HP95), the transmission in the Supra/Z4 is

Yeah but getting it to 1000hp without needing a rebuild every other month is the hard part.
