I could see the six reserved for the GTS and higher trims. The base and S and T and all that jazz could be 4 cylinder variants. I actually a NA base with somewhere around 230hp would be plenty if they focused on keeping it light weight.

Hear, hear!

At least we can all agree that exhaust sounds should come from exhausts, not car stereo speakers.

I totally get the less expensive 912 vs more expensive 911 thinking (and have made those kind of buying choices myself). But with 718 prices already in the stratosphere and more than the previous 6-cylinder versions cost, I can’t wait to see how much Porsche will charge for the new ‘Touring’ editions, given their

Recently rented a lava orange 17’ 718 Boxster w sport exhaust on a trip, my biggest complaint was the sound. Switching on all the possible buttons to make it come alive, did help a bit...and was happiest using paddles and keeping above 3500 rpms.. In automatic the sound and engine feedback is almost nil. It made me

912s can sound pretty badass. I’d love for someone to go over to Emory Motorsports and tell Rod Emory that 4 cylinder air cooled Porsches:

Smaller, prettier, and dynamically better than the 911, because Physics.

912 was created SPECIFICALLY to fill the void between the 356 and it’s successor, the 911, because the 911 was way way way more expensive than the 356.  The Cayman/Boxster were given 4 cylinder engines to separate them from the 911.  The motives were entirely different.

Hopefully this means that 981 GTS prices will plummet, so I can snatch one when my 987S gets too old.

Maybe this will make the 718S more affordable in the used market so I can finally buy a Porsche....hahaha right.

Buy both.  TREAT YO SELF

I feel that PSE is mandatory for any 911 order. I’m glad mine has it.

His wallet probably does.

BUT WHAT ABOUT US PORSCHE 718 PURISTS?????

You have more interest in Mitsubishis than Porsches???

My 997 C4S X51 sounds absolutely epic when I’m caning it...but it is not the most lively car when I’m puttering around in traffic.

This lineup will allow the 718 buyer to select from base, T, S, GTS, Touring, and Spyder/GT4 models. That should be sufficient, right?

This is a lot like when Porsche offered the 911 R because of the public outcry that the GT3 wasn’t available with a manual. And then when they saw the collectors snapping them up instead of drivers, they added the manual back to the GT3.

oh hello used 991.1S competitor, this is very interesting and throws a whole new wrench in the works

I guess this is the closest Porsche will ever get to admitting they made a mistake. Of course, these two models will probably cost a third to a half more than the four cylinder models.
