I’m not hyperventilating
When I lost someone as a teenager, a friend of mine stood apart from all the religious consolers and silent atheists by talking about how the actions we’d taken together with our friend had caused outgoing ripples that would make up part of the core of everything else forever, and that sometime in the future our atoms…
Oh, but it couldn’t possibly be Hillary’s fault for being the single most untrustworthy candidate to ever seek the office!
They’re totally different motivations, though. I think we’ll find out with time exactly how many threats Obama faced, but that was more of a political/racial frame. Trump’s more of a fear of chaos and ignorance - a toddler with nukes.
The Aunt Carol crack isn’t ageist, it’s out-of-towner-ist. Rube-ist.
“Shred” is a difficult concept. Kellyanne just operates in a completely parallel universe. It’s like we’re from Desert Bluffs and she’s from Nightvale - we’re talking about the same approximate landscape, but where we see cacti and tumbleweeds, she sees hooded figures and angels.
I grew up with a bunch of neighborhood kids who were half-Asian (a Japanese conglomerate had a base in our whitebread town), and now many of their kids are a quarter Asian and 75% Caucasian - physically they’re all over the map, stereotypical-looks-wise. In one family, one daughter looks like she’s Norwegian and…
This isn’t like running up to a person using a wheelchair and asking “What’s your community’s stance on the ADA?”
Please produce a link to shows Cho publicly “talking about it” before this interview. If she did it enough that it made her an expert, that should not be too hard to find.
Okay, I know I’m in the fucking grays, but there’s an excellent reason Swinton reached out specifically to Cho.
Yeah, it was still not okay to seek out an Asian person you don’t know to have the white person guilt convo, and that is really how it looks to me.
Swinton didn’t email a total stranger - ten days earlier Cho got a lot of press around hosting a Twitter “conversation” about whitewashing in Ghost in the Shell and Doctor Stranger.
Swinton wrote Cho 10 days after Cho hosted a Twitter “conversation” covering the whitewashing of Ghost in the Shell and Doctor Strange.
A man punching a woman is not domestic violence, it’s just violence. They appear to had no familial or romantic connection.
NONE of them justify blasting a woman like this.
I think it’s because Cho already had an opinion and was widely reported as leading discussions about the whitewashing of Doctor Stranger in particular:
It sounds like Tilda first asked for someone to ask if she was okay being contacted, then followed that up by saying “feel free to tell me to fuck off” in the actual contact.
Right. “I cast Steve Yeun” does not match up with “I’m producing a film with an acclaimed Korean director, shot partly in Korea, with Korean and Korean-American leads, and with half the dialogue in Korean”.
The way Cho described the film project initially doesn’t square with what Tilda actually seems to be working on - “hey I have a Korean friend, so” is a far cry from “I’m working with an established Korean director on a project that has Korean leads, is partly filmed in Korea and is 50% IN KOREAN”.
I’ve taken to packing one of those small nylon grocery bags in my carry-on. After check-in but before boarding, I transfer anything I might need to access into that smaller bag, because with today’s legroom and reclining on planes, I am not going to be able to get into that bigger bag during the flight. I need the…
