Well yea. But they only get paid if they get someone who gets the job. All they do is get you the interview. You have to be the best and get hired and also they help with negotiating for you and the more you make, the more they make.

My hub has found his last two jobs (and a temp job a while back) using recruiters but in his industry they’re necessary and actually do find you jobs. The trick is to never use a recruiter who takes money from you. They get paid by the employer for the hook up, never from you.

I’m glad to hear that was your experience. But most people don’t end up using it that way. They end up using it like it’s said in the article because once you’re in the hole things often times get worse instead of better and so it becomes a rolling debt worse than credit cards.

My collection that I want to sell are large and/or irregularly shaped so the actually shipping part is more what I’m worried about.

Honestly if I know it will sell I’d probably sell $10 items. I have a large collection and that $10 to $199 item multiplied out many times over makes it worth it. But I’ll likely try to sell the $30-$300 category first since Christmas is coming up and that seems like a good price point to focus on for gifts. Then

I like it because it allows me a chance to try new stuff without losing cash, play a game I’ve wanted to play (mostly downloadable games), or gives me the digital copy of a game that I own but now I can either get rid of the disc version or put it in deep storage.

Sounds like a solid plan. I hope it will all fit in the garage. The kitchen stuff needs to be dealt with first so we’ll probably amend your plan with putting that stuff in an extra room and going from there.

I have gold to play my games so to me it’s a waste of a perk to not grab them since I’m paying for it anyway. And some have been really fun! But obviously don’t get gold just to get free games. I can’t play on steam anymore because my laptop is horrible to play on (like not comfortable, it plays the games fine).

I’m not donating my collectibles worth thousands of dollars.

My stuff I want to sell is worth over $3k so not going to give that away! But for stuff like swifter, I’ll donate that. But my collectibles do have value and I just need to get over my eBay selling fear.

I wish we had time to actually do that. We had to leave for the new job so fast and the movers didn’t come till after we left. But, if we get the house and close on the 15th I do have a chance to keep it from staying in the new house. It will be a pain and it may take a long time and I will have several breakdowns

As soon as we close on our new house and get our stuff that’s been in storage for months delivered I am going to have a lot of work to do getting rid of stuff and the hardest part will be selling items.

Yea but to get the free 360 game on the Xbox one you have to have an actual card on there to dL it. It’s annoying but if the game is good I’ll do it. It doesn’t require it on the 360 itself (it’s in storage from the move) and it doesn’t require it for Xbox one free games.

Consider taking it off when you’re done buying and add it back on when you buy something and again take it off.

I always take my card off if I’m forced to put it on there for some reason. Never leave your card on there because of hackers let alone buying extra stuff. I had my account hacked and luckily only has money on there from a gift card. Huge hassle but at least I didn’t have to deal with a debit or credit card issue

I try not to buy things during the year so when the discounts from all the sites I love come rolling in I can buy a lot of good stuff for steep discounts. But I also keep my gift buying list of people down to a small amount. The rest is just a present for me and my hub.

Does “I’m buying a house so I have no money for gifts, sorry”, count as a spending plan?

It’s like people didn’t learn anything from the last crash. But then again, as agents and loan companies, it’s not their problem once the loan is done. The loan company usually sells it off quickly and doesn’t care after a month or two. Thankfully our loan company didn’t care but it’s also an online loan company.

There’s a lot of not thinking and not realizing that mental math misses a lot of small things that add up to a lot at the end of the day. Then add in the fact that socially you think that if you make X you can afford Y because everyone else making X has Y. And a lot has to do with being raised by people who weren’t

Yea we are buying a house well below what we could “afford” and for some lip for it by certain loan companies for it. How dare I only ask for 145k (original amount asked and then 180k and we ended up after the 1st fell through due to low appraisal on a house for 145500 that needs some work but is in a nice
