When I was 17, I was in a crash that totalled my dad's '82 Z28. White, T-tops (Bet your ass I had the T-tops off), all new steering components, suspension and pretty new Eagle GTIIs all around. My buddy Paul and I were out for a cruise on the first nice day of the year. Beautiful sunny day.
Owner's manual, extra light bulbs and fuses, radio face case, ipod and the ipod dock cable that goes to the head unit.
I can think of far more entertaining ways to mess up her hair. Just sayin...
Most of my therapeutic motoring is done on my VFR. Being in MN, it's easy to find roads that wind around one of our 10k lakes, it's quite relaxing.
@evanschmitt: My grandfather is 84 also, he's got a part time job driving mentally challenged folks around in a big van, and he rides a scooter around the neighborhood. Not all old people are created equally. Maybe we just come from stronger bloodlines...
My buddy's '88 Prelude SI with 4-wheel-steering got totalled by some crazy old bat, while it was parked out on the street. She apparently hit the wrong pedal and backed up onto the Prelude's roof. Pretty sure she panicked when she hit the wrong pedal and then jammed on it, probably thinking it was the brake.
My magic 8-ball is telling me that one of these may end up in my garage within the next couple years.... Yeah, the looks aren't for everyone, but I digs it!
@jakebaldridge: I made that vow myself once. Lo and behold, the next car I owned was an automatic. And that automatic transmission EXPLODED on me 15k later. Needless to say, that car is no longer with me, and I now am hot on the trail of my "Live by the clutch, Die by the clutch" vow.
@spiegel1: HOW DARE YOU?!? Associating the beloved manual transmission with the mediocre novelty of the 8 track.
There will always be true sports cars around with the option of a manual clutch / manual gearbox driveline.
@armyofchuckness: I LOVE that they end this with a clip from Pootie Tang!
I suddenly feel so much better about my NA 2.5 liter Subaru, because it has a real, honest to goodness CLUTCH.
"The dealer has refused to admit responsibility for the incident claiming the lack of a neutral safety switch on the system absolves them of responsibility."
The sound of that thing at 0:34 makes my heart flutter. That is all.
@korvetkeith king of teh horsepowers!: Back in the 90's, Audi experimented with internal caliper design, more commonly known as "UFO" rotors. They were a bad implementation.
@leavethegun-takethecannoli: Actually, they're OEM Buell. The hollow spokes and single rotor setup on the front wheel (in OEM form) is designed to offer equal braking power with less unsprung weight. Because the rotor is mounted to the rim, the spokes don't have rotational tension, allowing for a lighter wheel, one…
Is this any indication that drivers of new German cars are the most prone to make a claim over every rock chip?
@RäcinG73™: This is a win.
