For me, the most beautiful game of 2024 so far was Banishers: Ghosts of New England. There were clunky mechanics and a couple of a plot decisions that I found curious, but overall there was just something striking both in the world and the overall story.

Apparently Lola and I have a different definition of ‘reamed’

While I generally champion animation in any context, I do believe Scavengers Reign deserved a spot on here, as it’s one of the most interesting and strangest sci-fi stories I’ve ever seen, with the most believable (and truly alien) alien planet ever rendered. I’m glad Scott Pilgrim made it on here at least, but I do

Dear god, Iko Uwais deserves better than this. The man is perhaps the most electrifying martial artist of this generation. He should be leading films and getting opportunities to build up his brand in the US.

‘Lies of P’? That’s a bit on the nose.

The first time I read it, I read it as "picture of a man with 14 penises in his mouth". And I though huh, that's actually pretty impressive logistically.

Baffling why they wouldn’t take this golden opportunity to raise Romero from the dead so that he can direct the movie and actually see it from the perspective of the undead, instead of the cultural appropriation he did while alive.

Cocaine Bear? :P

The GI Joe movie gets a pass for two reasons; “COBRA LALALALALALA!” and “I was once a man!”.

I mean, with the lack of Karen Allen and Shia in this movie, I have to assume they had to ice Marion as well as Mutt, so hopefully it was different events that offed them.

I really think ten minutes is all you need either way. If you find those ten minutes super unsettling and unnerving then there’s still really no need to watch any more.

All we really know is that you are an unrelenting shitbag.

Wow, that’s a really good description of that movie. There’s definitely some sort of stylistic dissonance going on in it that isn’t unnerving, but off-putting. Sam Neil is a hugely underrated actor though.

Agreed - as young child actors go, can’t think of a better one for holding his own among some truly incredible performances.

Danny Lloyd may not have been the best part of the Kubrick Shining, but my god was he ever light years better than the kid they got for King’s version. I recently watched the bathtub sequence of the remake and he makes it absolutely unwatchable for all the wrong reasons.

As the comedian Christopher Titus once said, “If you woke up and the headline read, ‘Tom Hanks Punches Nun,’ your immediate response would be ‘What did that nun DO to Tom Hanks?’”

It’s not quite an open secret that Tom Hanks has the nasty habit of torturing hobos to death in his basement. He then saves the bodies to use as bait when orca fishing off the back of Spielberg’s yacht.

“Tom Hanks thanks restaurant server in overly curt manner. We’ll have more on this breaking scandal as it develops!”
