Totally! That kind of exploration of strictly female relationships/sexuality is not something I’m used to in horror, so it was refreshing to see.

Agree on the time jump in the book - it doesn’t move the needle much plot-wise. I figured if the jump was integrated into the book, it would be perhaps 5-10 years, which I suppose in itself wouldn’t make much difference either. 

Some mixed feelings about this, ofc, and it will be interesting to see how much the show deviates from the books at this point. Could be quite a bit considering the course the novels take. 

Watched this for the first time recently and very much enjoyed it. There’s a conceit that some movies are only for certain audiences, but good movies have something to say to everyone, says I.

Baseball is struggling to gain an audience as it is - I’m not surprised Fox at least is going to these creepy lengths. Otherwise, I don’t mind the crowd noise aspect. It’s more of a low murmur/ white noise than anything. Watching a game in complete silence would suck, as baseball is a ‘quiet’ game in the first place.…

BCS is weaker for having all these callback characters. As much as I enjoyed Mike on Breaking Bad, he doesn’t add anything to this show. Nor does Gus. Give me Kim, Saul and Nacho all day...maybe another new character for a b-plot. 

I didn’t think the tonal shifts in Us were as smoothly implemented as the reviewer suggests. The movie is half a comedy and that killed a good deal of the tension for me. Get Out’s comedy worked much better as it’s a clearer satire than whatever murky point Us was trying to make.

Part of the mythmaking of the movie as well, having her be this sort of fey character who flits around screen being this sweet-natured, happy person, when the world knows the reality of her terrible end. 

And Manson himself is literally in one scene for about 30 seconds. To think this film worshiped Manson or his followers is wrong-headed to say the least.

This has probably been addressed by the commentariat, but Greg has been Kendall’s part-time handler, so it made sense for him to be on the plane. To make sure Kendall ‘doesn’t jump out of the plane’ as Kendall himself said. 

He’s a total asshole for sure, but the only relatable character on the show considering his roots.

Kendall’s recklessness, self pity and stupidity directly caused someone’s death, yet it’s his pathetic rich white boy hip-hop appropriation that gets me rankled haha.
