This is a reach. The main character has a reflection, he does eat, and he’s shown walking in daylight (the scene where Paxton offers him a job comes to mind). If the writer wanted to imply even a metaphorical connection with a vampire, these things would have been easy to omit.

It’s on my Netflix list. Next chance I get I’ll give it a watch.

While I completely disagree that he is, in any way, a vampire in this movie (he eats Mexican food at one point, btw), my wife and I just watched it last night and it was fantastic. You’re right about about one thing: Gyllenhaal is almost unrecognizable in this film. His performance is absolutely brilliant.

I had the same question. The writer describes a female partner, but I saw no clues of what the writer’s own gender was, save that the partner’s only stated other liaisons were with men.

Is CUFT a woman or a guy? Their mention of flashbacks to the police report infers more probably that it’s a woman writing to you. If that’s that case, you might want to edit your response.
