On 30 Rock, Tina Fey had Jane Krakowski wear blackface multiple times. On Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Krakowski, a white woman, plays a Native American. And in her book Bossy Pants, Fey talked about how her dad taught her that whenever they saw black kids in their neighborhood, they were just there to steal bikes.

It’s not a binary, but you’re trying to make it one in order to defend a flawed point. You can say someone is potentially doing a good thing while also acknowledging they were willfully ignorant about the privilege they’ve received for decades. It’s not “sneering”, it’s calling out someone’s years of bullshit.
