First, this is amazing. Second, let’s all use this as an opportunity to post beautiful Nina Simone songs. Here’s “Little Girl Blue”:

You know what really stunned me? Seeing some of my white friends lose their parents, grandparents, or other family members, and inheriting money. I know a girl (she’s white) who inherited $10,000 from a great uncle who she openly hated. Meanwhile, I lost a third of my savings paying for my mom’s funeral.

At this point, can we be completely certain that Okafor, on a subconscious level, isn’t suicidal, or otherwise trying to cause some sort of self harm? Is driving 108 on a bridge a dumb thing that a teenager does, or is it a very serious cry for help?

“But to pretend that’s the main driver overlooks that the people most upset about Newton’s dancing (the Titans defenders) were mostly black”

I’d put it second, behind only the original (the original is really, really damn good)

It’s interesting, isn’t it? LeBron is easily the most likable of those three by any fair measure, and yet he gets the most hate. He’s probably the best player since Jordan (you can make an argument for Shaq or Duncan, but I think he’s clearly better than Kobe in every way), he’s the best superstar teammate since Magic

One of the interesting things about LeBron’s career arc is that he came into the league idolizing Jordan, but at some point realized that Jordan is a complete asshole, and seems to have slowly distanced himself from him.

I don’t know what’s more depressing: that you think this comment makes sense, or that you have probably tweeted #AllLivesMatter at some point in the last few months.

The sad thing is, the reason Flores can say this and get much less scrutiny than someone like Bomani Jones... is because Flores isn’t black either.

“separate a three-decades old comedy movie from real life”

Wow. This must be what it’s like talking to someone on an MRA blog.

I always find it telling that people get mad about films like this and that Ridley Scott “Exodus” bullshit, but don’t get nearly as upset when a white man is cast to play Jesus. The latter is just as bad, if not worse.

Trading Places features Dan Akroyd in blackface for about 10 minutes (while wearing dreads and faking a Jamaican accent), Eddie Murphy saying fa***t a few times, and a guy likely being raped by a gorilla. In a lot of ways, it’s a great movie, but... man.

Who else initially read “French banker” as “French baker” and was deeply jealous for a moment?

He should have been a no doubt Hall of Famer before, but it was pretty much sealed the second Mitch Richmond got in.

Halfway through he pauses because he realizes he’s not making any damn sense, but he knows there’s no turning back at that point so he just says “fuck it” and keeps going.

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for people who are stupid enough to pick fights with 6’11”, 250 pound athletes.

Thank you. Also, your account name is glorious.

I think the best thing he did here was call out his fellow journalists by bringing up their response to the Missouri tent/safe space situation in comparison to what’s happening in Chicago. If you’re a journalist who got on your high horse about how important your profession is when that was going down, but you aren’t
