If that's what it would take to get Walton to call a playoff game that featured JaVale McGee, I would blow up all of the pet stores. All of them.

And just like Game 6 in 2013, the last gasp 3 was only possible because the Spurs choked at the free throw line at the end. Leonard damn near airballed that second free throw. He only needed to hit one. I've never seen the Spurs blow free throws like that against any team that doesn't have LeBron.
I'm a big Payton fan too, but yeah — there's no argument. I'd say Payton is one of the 10 best point guards ever, but with this golden age of point guards, if they all stay healthy Payton is going to be knocked off the top 10 list, which makes me sad.
The same goes for Stockton. Longevity is all either of them has over Paul. By the time Paul is done, he's going to be at least the third best PG of all time, behind Magic and Oscar.
I hear ya. It's all good. Rep your team! And while we disagree about Paul vs. Stockton, I do think Stockton is criminally under appreciated these days, probably in part because he hasn't been in the spotlight at all since he retired (other than watching his son at Gonzaga and starring in that State Farm commercial).
Are you related to Stockton? You seem almost personally offended that I think Paul is a better player. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't; there's a good argument for both. But unless he's your dad, or he paid for your college tuition, I'm not sure why you're getting so weirdly and aggressively defensive about this. Stockton…
"He is an amazing player, which makes the flopping and whining all the more annoying."
"Chris Paul has Blake Griffin that's kind of a wash with Malone." You don't get to tell someone they don't know what they're talking about when you suggest that Griffin and Malone are "kind of a wash." I like Griffin a lot, and I find Malone annoying as hell, but come on. And while Rivers is a good coach, he's no…
Duncan is a great comparison. Just like Paul, his sustained excellence is, in a weird way, almost boring to a lot of people, so fans take it for granted. I blame Wake Forest.
I would take Paul over both of them, and imagine most GMs would too. Even in his prime, Nash was an awful defensive player. As for Stockton, I doubt you'll find many people who think he was better than Paul. As good as he was, his assist totals were partially a function of having an all time great coach and an all…
Just like voters get bored with giving LeBron the MVP, I think fans have gotten bored with Paul's continued excellence (his constant bitching and flopping doesn't help), to the point that we don't really appreciate him anymore. You brought up what he did to John Wall last year, but you also could have mentioned that…
Probably because Chris Paul's career playoff numbers are fantastic.
Redick, on his behavior at Duke: "I watch video now of me in college, and I just think, What are you doing, man?" He also says he was "sort of a prick": http://grantland.com/the-triangle/i…
I have much more respect for Redick than Laettner, because Redick now openly admits that he was an unlikable dick in college, and is embarrassed by his actions. Redick is kind of like a guy who left a cult, and only after a few years away can he look back and realize the shit he did while he was in the cult was…
Andre Johnson is the Tim Brown of his generation. He's an all time great wide receiver who put up fantastic numbers despite never playing with a good QB until his skills started declining. At least Larry Fitzgerald got two years of the good version of Kurt Warner and half a season of competent Carson Palmer before his…
That makes a lot of sense, actually. And I can see that. There are some guys — Jon Hamm, LeBron James — who look like they're 30 by the time they're 15. I wonder how many acting jobs 18-year-old Jon Hamm lost to men who were five years older than him but looked like teenagers?
"It's somewhat amazing that he had almost no career prior to MM."
Gracias. I'm always happy when someone gets the reference. I love that comic.
It wasn't included in this post, but "Tillmatic" pretty much broke me. That's brilliant.
This comment deserves more love.
