I haven’t played HFW obviously but it sounds like it already does bring in “real world” themes but then discards them at the end in favor of Plot, which is absolutely something to criticize.

“I’m not sure when exactly this trend truly took off—I blame The Witcher 3’s “Gwent”—but every expansive open-world RPG these days apparently has to feature an in-universe board game of some sort.”
Tongue through the window
ALSO also, Xenoblade 2 is an excellent game about a group of Gallagher impersonators touring their physical comedy routines across a broken world (and also eventually saving it).
Hell yeah!!!!! Also, I guessed what it was after literally one word of voice over lol, that artstyle/accent combo could belong to nothing else.
The search function is especially hilarious when you’re looking for a pokemon who’s icon is already largely black and white. Like, doing a search for Unown actually makes it harder to find them because all you’ve done is change every other pokemon to a matching color scheme.
Right, and it sucks. Just let the bird fly!
Still really hoping for a remaster at least, I’ve been wanting to replay it but so far I’ve resisted pulling my Wii U out of storage.
This is where I landed. For the most part the occasionally ugly textures and comically small draw distances weren’t a big deal (though it certainly distracted me more than once), but late game when you’re largely flying around and looking for specific pokemon/items it starts to genuinely get in the way.
Worth pointing out that they didn’t steal the Spotify API for their massive grift, they were given access. As if we needed any more evidence Spotify sucks complete ass.
It’s literally named after Jackie Chan lol. The Japanese name is apparently based on Hiroyuki Ebihara, also a dude.
But seriously, working at one of these big companies seems so bleak. Trying to imagine how it would feel to clock in, open your Corporate Discord app, see a shitty message from your CEO, and then express your concern through a goddamn emoji reaction.
Came for the laughing at a CEO backtracking on dumb shit, stayed for the insane comments from someone who’s job title apparently includes the word “communications.”
One of these days a company is going to figure out you can listen to people BEFORE wasting time and money on a dumb thing everyone hates.
I hadn’t considered Galaxy was in on the grift but that definitely makes sense. He’s the first person you see when you walk into their headquarters and no one has asked him to leave.
This dude is absolutely taking advantage of children in front of god and the entire organization and honestly, I gotta respect that. I blame Cyllene for allowing this to continue next to her office, I KNOW she can hear his bullshit.
Booooo
Imagine wanting studios to waste huge amounts of time and money on completely reinventing the wheel with each sequel, instead of taking the solid foundation they already have and using the majority of their resources to improve/expand on it.
That anecdote about Magmar and the bridge is the most exciting thing I’ve read about the game, nothing gets me going these days like a game respecting my time.
Everything on that card is using standardized terms, it’s just that this particular monster is a combo of three different types (Synchro, Pendulum, Effect), and so it has to list the full rules for each type (which is part of standardization!). I don’t even really know how Pendulum monsters work yet and I still…
