So this guy raped a minor and is being supported by the group that thinks the democratic party is run by secret pedophiles that must be stopped?

I dunno man.

My recollection was that the issue involved the character being Tibetan specifically. If you want your movie to be released in China, you need to tread carefully around the subject of Tibet.

JFC thank you for saying this. It was GWB who said he had to “get over the filter” of the press to talk to the American people. Apparently fact checkers are filters now. It was Reagan and Bush who started this anti intellectual train and beliefs trounce facts.

Shit, I’d say the Democrats could use a bit *more* lock-step—particularly with regard to Manchin and Sinema.

Cheney seems to think she is battling Trumpism alone. But Trumpism is the entirety of the Republican Party. Trump is the natural conclusion of the anti-intellectualism and state sponsored fake news ushered in by Bush and her father. McCain and Palin entrenched it. Trump is simply benefiting from the ground work laid

That book should be required reading for anyone who says cancel culture is a myth. Countless people have had their lives ruined for making some innocuous comment online. Just most of them aren’t famous so nobody cares

“Way too quick to assume the worst” is definitely the case online, particularly on Twitter.

although she was “guilty as accused”, the situation around Alexi McCammond (almost Teen Vogue editor) was also pretty crappy, and really highlighted how some people would not accept anything but absolute perfection.

The desire to hold people accountable is good.

In 1986, he was 23 and had like six credits to his name. I’m going to cut him a little slack for going along to get along. Blame the director and producer.

No matter how many times we say “cancel culture is a myth,” it doesn’t make it true. I wish we could just acknowledge that so-called cancel culture has some negative implications along with all the positive effects (accountability, etc.).

I’ve made the same comment a few times, but asking famous people about their friends who are abusers is putting them in a terrible position. I agree with what Rogen said, his opinion is the least valuable here.

This statement gives me hope, so yes, it counts for something as it demonstrates understanding that other people were hurt by his seemingly former friend. It would be hard to announce the end of any relationship in an interview, unless one wants to showboat their new enlightenment.

I think I understand his point when he said his opinion isn’t relevant. No one wants to believe their good friend is capable of doing terrible things.  It’s difficult to process.  It sounds like he’s on a path to understanding. He seems like a thoughtful person. I hope he gets there.

This is a very telling remark. He and every other GOPer knew this was ridiculous from the start, but just like with Dump, they thought it would be useful, controllable idiocy that they could steer to the voting booth. When the absolutely 100% predictable result of rabbit holing and lunacy appeared, destroying the last

Along with the notion that the victim should have been better prepared, and thus holds some responsibility for what was done to them.

At this point, it’s just another fake culture war battle. Like abortion, like trans rights, like critical race theory, like Mr. Potatohead. Everything is a conspiracy by the libs to destroy “OUR” country. The right manipulates their lumpen followerswith fear and hate so they never really think about how badly they’re

I’m struck by the similarities between the spin put on gun violence and that put on rape culture. The right always leans on this bogeyman stranger intending to do harm to you and your family rather than the inconvenient truth that violence is more often perpetrated by the devils we know.

“Looking back, I didn’t think it would be this ridiculous. It’s embarrassing to be a state senator at this point.”
