This is one of the things, as an Old liberal, that freaks me out about this current moment. The right wing is going off the rails in the U.S., but there is a really vocal minority on the left that kind of sucks in its own way. It’s hard for me to square with that.

There was an article in Wired a few days about about this. You say “health care workers,” but this story cites a single health care worker. Other health care workers in her area and hospital have not experienced patients denying COVID. This story, and perception is based on an anecdote by one overworked nurse.
But a weak reform that gets passed and doesn’t get the politicians who enact it voted out of office in favor of right wing assholes is much, much more effective than a truly radical reform that never even makes it to a vote.
