The code that’s sent to the car from Tesla is infinitely reproducible, requires no physical materials, and all of the associated labor to create it was accomplished once, a while ago. No additional labor is required to specifically install it on a particular vehicle.’

Customer: “I butt-dailed an upgrade by accident. I’d like a refund because your software sucks.”

What he’s getting at is something he tried several months ago. Tesla apparently has (or had? dunno not a Tesla fan) a “no haggle” policy. Erik equated Tesla changing MSRP with haggling, even though they’re completely different things, and tried to use that to get a dig at Tesla for going against their own policy.

And

He’s just deliberately stupid about this.

It is again bending on price. Tesla spends a whole lot of time pretending that it’s not a normal car company but really, now that it’s past the whole startup phase, it is.

The left wing politics killed this place.

This is absolutely true. There’s no way that auto manufacturers can take Jalopnik, as a automotive website, seriously anymore. The hot takes, personal bias, and political rants of some of the few who have stayed have dragged this website down.  If I was Tesla, I’d tell Jalopnik to go pound sand too.  Heck, Nissan gave

As a long-time reader of Jalopnik, well over 10 years, and a loyal fan to a fault, it pains me to say this but the fact of the matter is...Jalopnik is no longer viewed as a media entity worth responding to by Tesla or any other major manufacturer. It surprises me that so many articles here point out that “I’ve reached

“Daddy, the top came off...”

1st gear - Elon is a fucking asshole but the company he runs is ahead of the pack and kicking some ass. Maybe some other giant manufacturers can give them some competition and us, as consumers, some cheaper offerings before like 2025?

I’m no Tesla fanboy, but JESUS EFFING CHRIST, this “Autopilot isn’t really autopilot hur-dur” shit is exhausting, isn’t it?

You’re only partially right. Change “GOP” for “politicians” and you’ll be 100% correct, because they’re all out to screw us over for their own personal benefit and profit.

So now Rivian has to go through the hassle to sue Michigan, Michigan gets to spend taxpayer money defending a losing lawsuit, and Rivian will eventually get to sell cars there. What a fucking dipshit state.

“Alexa. Scare the cat.”
(whirr)

No matter how you look at it, Tesla is still in the best place of any manufacturer.

You get what you pay for, I guess.

Correlation is not causation. The lack of specificity on the batteries was the reason for the stock value drop, not the promise of a relatively cheap Tesla model.

You don’t go into a Ford dealer buying the cheapest Mustang and leaving with the GT500 Shelby whithout knowing that’s not the car you ordered.
