Another sign of free market capitalism at work? “we reserve the right to refuse business to anyone for any reason.”

According to this data, Tesla models lose value twice as fast as Alfa Romeo and three times as fast as Maserati. This massive depreciation drop is mostly tied to Elon’s decision to constantly cut prices on new models, forcing an ever-widening gap for pre-owned cars.

1) Imagine having the kind of money you can just shoot your new truck

Anyone who has ever dabbled in DIY car detailing would know that metal fallout is a common issue and affects all cars although it is not as apparent on painted/clear coated vehicles. Metal fallout is small particles of metal from lots of sources (industrial plants, brake dust, trains, etc.) that are carried through

Exactly!

and Apple recalls all iPhones ever made every few months...

Headline sounds like a hit piece. Stated differently: “Tesla addresses voluntary recall to every vehicle with OTA update and no customer impact”

Your very first sentence is wrong. It was a voluntary recall and if this kind of crap doesn’t convince you NHTSA is useless, your crazy. Here is the before and after change.

Instead of putting more nannies on cars, how about we enforce the rules we already have?

Yeesus, Bradley. This article is bad, your take is bad & short sighted, and your responses to the comments seem to be the equivalent of “I know you are but what am I,” second grade playground chat. Gosh, coming to Jalopnik is like opening the fridge 100 times when you are hungry hoping that something delicious

Agreed - I think this brief opinion seems to go out of its way to downplay what is not just a legit marketing spectacle, but truly noteworthy performance. Whether the 911 was the slowest model or not, it got smoked by a pickup pulling another car on a trailer. I’m not a Tesla owner or even a fan, but I think it’s OK

I have no idea what is more obnoxious and nauseating these days:

Vehicle that costs the same as a Porsche beats Porsche in drag race while towing another Porsche?

I mean, it’s impressive, if nothing else. All drag races are spectacle, really.

1st gear: What would you all rather have? A fast ramp that causes consumers to have to deal with the defects (which Ford, GM and Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis has been guilty of many times over the years) or a slow ramp so that the vehicles that most end up actually buying have few to no issues?

Likely just an early pre-production prototype that they wrapped for fun. If you look at some of the other Cybertrucks that have been spotted in public lately, all of these fitment issues seem to be fixed. For example look at the tailgate alignment of this Cybertruck spotted on a trail:

Look, I’m not a Tesla Stan but:

IS this Elonmupnik now ?

Subsonic doesn’t mean shit either. It’s all about inertial energy...

Is it much worse than getting hit by the front of other modern day pickups?

For fear of sounding like a Tesla fan boy, where is the struggling? A couple tire squeals? That’s it?
