Wouldn’t the Rimac Nevera be the first 8 second production car in history? It does the 1/4 in 8.5 and was first delivered to customers in August. Obviously a very different price bracket and experience though.
The new 4680 battery from Tesla is shipping in one version of the Model Y already and has been for months. 4680 refers to the size of the cell and not necessarily the chemistry. They may be working to improve the chemistry but that’s something they are always working with companies to accomplish.
An easier solution would be to just lock up the key box.

We need an open architecture car where people have full control over the software they run. I don’t want features removed by NHTSA.
Can always count on Jalopnik to present a fair and unbiased view on any politically tinged subject. I can only assume these editorials are written with intended bias, to encourage more clicks from both sides. The persistent political bias is the primary reason I don’t visit Jalopnik very often anymore.
