I don’t find it shocking in the slightest that there are more people online that can comment on things than there are in the specific conventions that you have visited - of course it is disproportionate when the sample size is so incredibly disproportionate to begin with.

“We don’t publish games about politics.”

And the worst part is that there are plenty of women clamoring to do stuff that matches what he wants. You know how many women love lancer or gundam for example? But he is going in with preconceptions and thus will overlook or discourage the exact people who would do what he theoretically want

I truly don't understand those apology posts. Like..... Who do they think they are fooling exactly? What you sat down and wrote a lengthy post, and now suddenly it doesn’t reflect your values?

I physically reeled when I hit the second part of Dancey’s response. Like while I thought the first part was deeply condescending and didn’t speak well of the man, at least I got the general point he was trying to make. The female designers he has heard pitches from are not for the kinds of games his company

Wow... classic “let me counter your argument about lack of representation in the industry by publicly detailing how I’m a core component part of the problem”.

Dancy certainly put his foot in his mouth, but I do understand some of his points.  No women can’t be catagorized into a box of certain types of games (i’ve seen women designers who made games with spaceships and robots) but the game world has a small margin for profit and taking a risk on an idea that isn’t going to

If he had said: “I have a narrow focus in my interests, and the company I run reflects those interests. I really don’t know what to make of pitches that don’t involve war or robots, so I largely steer clear of them and stick to my wheelhouse”, then he would have at least sounded honest and credible.

“The problem with women designers is they don’t pitch classically man-oriented games like war and fighting” is such an incredibly stupid argument to make. It’s not even “oops I misphrased”, there’s no charitable way to read this.

Naturally it’s the females’ problem for not being able to take harsh criticism, and not the critic’s problem for not being able to give constructive criticism without being a dick about it.

All those things I said in my lengthy post don’t reflect my views.

“The problem with lady designers is that they can’t appeal to my white man sensibilities about what kind of games wimmin folk want to play”

What the actual fuck

Do you know how many women in jail who did far less than what Holmes did would like to be let out due to being new mothers? Do you know how many of them get New York Times profiles?

Holmes is a monster. The massive problem is that at one point she realized she couldn’t will her magical wish-fulfillment technology into existence and started doubling, tripling, quadrupuling down to keep the fraud going. That’s the sociopathy. This whole thing reeks of someone who is just desperate to avoid

Exactly. I’m pretty sure Billy and his billions can handle any care the kids need.

Holmes and Elon both look like reptile aliens wearing badly fitted latex masks in order to pass as hoo-mans, and they behave like such.

there are so many families ripped apart when the mom is tossed in jail for minor offenses. They should fucking put her in jail already and be done with this shit.

sounds more like she paid off a network of “friends” and then charmed a moronic reporter to go get those hand-picked stories to make her look good

You can almost hear the money being transferred from her account to the ny times
