A whole thread mocking black cultural terms on an article about BNL. This whole thing is just too white for me to handle. If Vantablack had a polar opposite it would be this.

Fire... Like if something is hot then it’s amazing/good/etc. Fire isn’t much of a leap from that and “hot” as a positive descriptor has been around for awhile in various communities.

Except a lot of these have been a part of AAVE for decades used by young and old. So maybe RIP to the mainstream treating Black culture as a trend to be exploited and tossed away like nothing.

Barely related but there’s no 7/11s in the town I live in now and it’s so strange to me

In this decade the past is the present (sometimes unfortunately so, although I’m happy duster sweaters are back)

Omg, is it the lighting or did she get her hair colored in the classic Black-auntie burgundy? Or maybe a gloss. If so I am so pleased.

Right, which also got dispersed and mutated and ended up taking out a good portion of the world’s population (if I’m remembering correctly)

Beautiful poem about how others view poverty as this pitiful thing but people living in it find beauty and love and community and that’s nothing to pity (terrible summary of the poem but your comment reminded me of it). Fred Hampton was killed at 21 after being a gotdamn activist prodigy, DeRay who I don’t love but respect some aspects of his political life was fairly young when he started. The list can go on. Point is, flippant comments on her age mask the real idiocy, ignorance, and hate of

Why was it okay for Jez to have an interview with her but Trevor Noah gets told to fuck off for having her on the show (top comment of the first article about this interview). I get that it’s canceled but...hm.

Bahaha, so happy someone quoted this

Stealing is obviously wrong but I’m at a loss at the complete lack of finesse here. So Kylie is committed to stealing other people’s concepts fine, I guess.. But why keep stealing from the same person? Seems like an easy way to be outed as a thief.

When I was 15 I had a MySpace post saying that if we wanted respect we need to pull our pants up and act right. In middle school I was convinced the only man for me was a White Jewish man (not anyone specifically. That was just my “type” at 12). Now I actively fight against White Supremacy and antiblackness offline
