I guess I didn’t articulate that properly. What I meant to say was that if a guy asks you out with that preamble, it can come across as threatening. You may see it — and mean it with the best of intentions - as being honest and forthright, but it could come across as kind of scary.

It just puts artificial pressure on a first date. How about you go out and see if you like each other. If so, then perhaps you can say “I would like to explore this further”. But right off the bat, it can be off putting.
