Hell I got a rust free Mercury Grand Marquis ready to roll if you want to give the true “big car life” a shot. Even gets 18mpg in the city (I changed out the gears for 3.55’s, among other things).

Basically they did that so that people would have a harder time damaging the radiator. Back in the early days, especially when it came to hauling freight, a lot of horse wagon folk didn’t like trucks coming and taking what they’d been doing and doing it for lower costs, so it was common practice to back into the truck

It’s a perfectly acceptable practice. I even went to the parts store in a bathrobe and slippers once.

What in the everliving fursuit

I’d give you $500 for it and take it to autocross Jason

For sure man, this Jeep has gone postal

It looks like a dumbed down Charger in profile, which isn’t saying anything good. Interior is the only saving grace, and I’d prefer it in a CTS

Used to own a red 4WD/V6 one of these with 156k on it. Was happy to sell the fucker for $900 3 months after I got it. Auto-fucking-matic CP

Tentative NP. The rear gears are simple enough to have changed out, so they don’t factor into my decision. However, my biggest thing is I doubt the providence of that block as a 428. It’s too easy to swap out Pontiac motors and say that their another, common issue in that marker. I’d have to check the block casting

You’re a lot like me man, we like the cars no car enthiusiest should ever love.

At the age of 19 I’ve already owned mine for almost a year. I don’t see it ever going anywhere.

David, I take it you didn’t end up needing the heads I gave you a lead on?

A communist propaganda piece from someone other than Ballaban? What is the world coming to?

Sounds more like hippy communists than brainwashed capitalists to me. Out of context, sure, but in the context of a company looking to shift the market in a “greener” (notice the quotes), it isn’t.

Since when has a Bethesda programmer been in charge of making decisions for a car company?

Test drives always are game changers. There was a 1990 Caprice I would have bought before I took it for a test drive and realized the fuel system would have needed to be redone, there was an Avalon I was like hell yes after having been like hell nah, my Buick I was like hell nah until I drove it and was like hell yes,

I get the feeling that this is one of those cars that is intentionally priced above what a sane person would pay just so that he can say “Look honey, I put it up for sale” and get her to quiet Dow while he still enjoys it.

I don’t know about you, but I haven’t seen anything other than basket case 1955-57 thunderbirds for $10k. Decent ones range from $20-40k around here. The rest of the 1950’s birds were meh, they didn’t get interesting again to me until the 1964-66 generation

Another reply I left elsewhere is I also feel that it’s also rediculous that semiskilled labor demands enough benefits that their cost to the corporation almost approaches the salary of a Doctor. It’s why a lot of newer plants are built in the nonunion South when they are built in America these days, with salaries

I may be unique in this opinion, but I consider “real world value” to be something that has real, tangible results. It doesn’t necessarily mean building your own things, but something that can be touched or used in the real world by somebody. Additionally, I don’t find arts and the humanities useless. I do, however,
