Given how much trouble Martin has always had reining in his writing to what would be possible to portray on a TV budget, I’m sure this will go great.

I’m pretty sure half the birds and insects were gone as well. After the un-snap, Scott Lang is drawn to the patio area and seems to be noting the increase in activity. We see and hear that even before Clint Barton gets the phone call.

That makes even less sense though. (Though I don’t expect a loony asshole like Thanos to analyze his goal.)

Intelligence isn’t an absolute. There are different levels, and different kinds. 

Since the powerstones are essentially McGuffins that grant wishes, I just assumed Thanos wished away half of all ‘intelligent’ life in the universe as his whole point was to eliminate overpopulation, pollution and dwindling resources so that the planets’ ecosystems could recover and thrive.

Thinking about the Blip too hard really makes the whole thing unravel. What we’ve seen on screen dwells on the half of humanity that was uncreated and then recreated (because that’s where the drama is), but Thanos didn’t just wipe out half of all humanity, he wiped out half of all life in the universe. That means half…

Absolutely. I wasn’t sure how to articulate that vibe, but that’s kind of where I was going with the ‘not because he likes them but for mom’s sake’ bit in my version of the metaphor. But your phrasing nails it much better.

Also, the “stay out of my way” line was very “Stepdad trying to be the cool who also has a really short fuse, especially when he drinks.”

When you weigh in the psychological ramifications of the blip and the time passed between them, I have to wonder if people serving a prison sentence, except for maybe lifers without parole, who had disappeared, were released or had 5 years taken off their sentence when they came back.

When he interacts with Sam and Bucky, I’m getting a vibe from John Walker that I’d describe as “stepdad trying way too hard to be friends to the kids not because he likes them, but for mom’s sake.” Especially in the police station.

That’s interesting. Granted I’m more Marvel centric, but I found theatrical release of Justice League to be very nondescript. The slightly better Ultimate Edition of Batman vs Superman was more fun and that still had it’s own issues.

Fuck that, I want Warner Bros. to give Snyder $70 million every year to make a Snyder cut of any movie he chooses.  Tom & Jerry: The Snyder Cut.  The Meg: The Snyder Cut.  Let’s burn these piles of money to the ground.

I think it’s 50/50 how Warner Bros plays this. A lot of the early (very positive) reviews are leaning heavily on this setting up sequels, alongside the trending #RestoreTheSnyderverse movement.

Zach Snyder’s entire career can be summed up like this:

To be fair, Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiers the day after ZSJL does and will inevitably overshadow it.

Come Friday we’re all going to be discussing “The Falcon & The Winter Soldier” goodness anyway, so your wish will soon be granted.

Oh, it won’t go away for a while. There’ll be followup articles about Snyder stans throwing hissy fits about the negative critical reaction; articles about how many people ostensibly watched the Snyder Cut on HBO MAX; articles dissecting weird moments and easter eggs; at least one For Your Consideration article…

My one hope for all of this: I never have to hear about the fucking Snyder Cut again. I generally try not to yuck other people’s yum. I get that Snyder’s style is not appealing to me and that’s fine. Enjoy what you enjoy.
